I haven't seen any mention of it since it was removed, but I remember reading (link) that Stat Allocation was coming back on a per-class basis in 1.20.

I can't really understand these comments in favor of Point Allocation. Stats didn't work properly for almost a year, while you were able to allocate them, now they work a little better than in the past (DEX is still useless) and you can really "feel" it in battle. So why all of you hope so strongly to have point allocation back? Did you notice stats differences in the past?

Stats really do matter now and my MRD just isnt stated the way i think he should be so i cant wait!

Make it optional. I like it as it is now.
Sounds like a good compromise to me. Also, this kind of system will benefit us more if they ever release additional jobs for classes. For example, being able to allocate your bonus points into VIT if you're going the tank/paladin route with gladiator or putting more bonus points into STR if you choose the DD based job.
You're getting merit points as you level now, it's not the same as the old allocation system.
You will have the same baseline stats that you have now but it's going to let you specialize in the role you want to play.
Think of it like two or three free stat materias.
