Newbies unite?

I've recently resubbed and have been playing pretty much by myself.

I played FFXI for years, but I feel completely lost here. Just been doing leve after leve and not real sure what else to do. I made it to level 19 before I figured out there was some kind of Auction House.

If anyone wants to hang out and show me the ropes, or if someone has a pretty active linkshell I could join, that would be excellent.

I'm usually playing Remi Ross.

Another recently returned newbie who is enjoying the game a lot more these days.

It is starting to get a little lonely though so if anyone has a casual friendly LS or you just want to do some leves (or anything that needs me to punch things in the face ) then please feel free to send me a /tell.

I am from the EU and you will usually find me in game during most EU prime times (and most weekends.) but am not worried about joining an LS active outside of those times as I can play at somewhat odd times (for an EU player) too.

Oh and providing I didn't muck things up I should be going to Balmung (just a weird name that) once the merge hits us

Zeg Eldis is a pugilist as well, I'm a conjurer/white mage myself.

With all the new/returning people looking for a linkshell, quest help or just exp parties, might it not be a good idea to start a linkshell specifically for those people? Just a shell that anyone can join, no application procedures, just so that people can get help quick and painless in-game and talk with people in a similar situation. I tried that before actually, but that was way back when the game wasn't really worth playing all that much

I know there's Arcadium, but from the post here, it seems to me they're trying to limit the max level for the shell to 30, although I might have misread that.


Either way, I'm always willing to help with (group) quests, even the lower level ones. Just if you send me a tell in-game, don't just use the translator and only say something like "(party)?", because that's really annoying =)

My friend and I are interested in joining a newbie orientated linkshell. I'm currently a lvl 21 ARC looking to go bard and he's a lvl 25 GLA. Would love it if there is a linkshell with low levels to do leves and behests with. Our names are Taph Beouhart and August Nakagawa.

One of the biggest issues I've found for the lower levels, is the lack of reasonable gear. Very few crafters are making lower level stuff, so there's very little choice. Of course, gear tends to not be very important for quite a few levels, but I tend to prefer to change gear once in a while, and get matching sets, and you know, look halfway decent and not like a clown, with every piece of armor a different color

There are some NPCs now that sell low level gear, but their selection is very limited..

I bought weathered weapon (and then the next level up weapons) from the sellers in the adventurers hall.

I then put on my Reindeer Suit and went out and levelled (in the most recent situation, a Pugilist).

Did this to level 15 with no real problem.

After that, was able to find stuff for sale in Ul'Dah.

I do not think one needs to be overly woried about gear for the lower levels (you level so quickly it won't be around long).

I'd also be interested in a newbie-focused shell. I returned a few weeks before 1.21, enjoy the changes and I'm having a lot of fun just wandering around doing stuff. But I think I'm at the point now where I need a little more structure and a group of folks to do it with. I play a few times a week, evenings NA(ET) times. I'll shout out when I see some of the names on this thread, please do the same if you see me.
