Players always have the option to use retainers to gather if you do not like to gather...
The amount of rmt has got real bad again as of late, always those damn bots in Gridania by the marketboard
Players alone are the main reason why rmt is so bad

But that's not cost effective. If you want to end MB RMT, feel free to undercut those pesky bots. I won't mind one bit.

There was a queue today so I did a search and theres no bots so my guess is they are getting banned.

The bots are on every server and if you haven't seen them you are just not in the right areas at the right time. I have characters on several servers, including Siren and Gilgamesh and there are tons of them. They have FC's. The archer bots typically turn in to spirit bonding bots. We all know the areas we see them at. Go to the Burning Wall, several will pop up at The npc for the BLM quests. Just follow the MSQ and you'll find them. Gathering bots haven't ceased either. Go to Little Solace and you will find 2-3 gathering bots that have been there for days, they will have one class to 15 and be lvl50 gatherers. It is absolutely terrible on every server. If you think your server is free of them, I'll make a character on your server and show you.

I have also wondered if it was that bots make Free Companies, like you just mentioned Celeste i have often seen the same gatherers in East Shroud, every time. I thought they were bots but ws not sure as they were in a Free Company and did not have the usual low level gear that bots have.
Still found it odd they would spend all their time, every day gathering low level nodes, until i seen one of them gathering at one of the script turn in nodes.. who knows

Also I can confirm with my Anti-Virus and checking a cheat site that the anti cheat mechanisms on this game is purely server side checks which is unlike industry norms and pretty lax.

It would have been easier to hire some programmers to write code to detect and disable the bot before it got out of hand, than hire lawyers for this.

I have a feeling they are trying to get damages for having a mediocre game and passing it off as it being caused by the bot.

I used to see them alot when Novice Chat was introduced while back.
Nowdays I rarely see any bots on Odin. Maybe cause its a high populated server and they can't make new characters during the day.

I Want to know why the devs don't add a flag to banned accounts that list their "characters" (read: bots) as banned? It would take the guesswork out of removing names from the blacklist.

SE does that exact same thing with their own ban waves. Nevertheless, detecting cheats like what those people were using is far easier than eliminating bots. One is a group of actual players. The other is, well, bots who can easily be replaced.
