What happens in an actual FC?
In mine, a wide variety of stuff, from end-game raiding to leveling to much ado about crafting and gathering. It also helps that we got people that have been playing since 1.0/vanilla, people that are knowledgeable about all this stuff, so it isn't the blind leading the blind (not that that's a bad thing, but you get the idea).

Thank you everyone for your responses. I've been trying to be open-minded about this, but this has gone on for months. By open-minded, I mean that I considered this possibility that this is probably the norm for most FCs and I'm just being silly, but I see now that there ARE free companies that do different things.

I've tried to be 90-99% available to help FC mates with anything they need, but only on few occasions do they request for help. I also offer to run roulettes with them if I happen to be doing mine, but the few people online usually aren't interested. I seem to remember a time when the free company was not only more active outside of raiding, but I often got invited to run roulettes or primal farms or even Coil farms. So perhaps I'd just gotten so used to that dynamic that I'm not adapting well to how things have been.

I've noticed ebbs and flows in FCs as content changes and therefore people's interests change.

Maybe the best thing you can do is try to leave on good terms and remain friends.

When you have no FC attached to your name you will likely get invites from others, and then you can possibly ask about what they do and maybe even have a sort of "trial membership" to see if it fits your play style.

Our current FC has 8 members who came over from our previous server after some FC drama there. We're a small group but we've all been playing regularly since v1 and at least 5 or more members are on every night. Even though the roster says there is a master, she does not really hold to that mantle. It's much more equalitarian and cooperative than my previous FCs which tended to revolve around one or two individuals and whatever content they were fixated on at the time.

There are nights where everyone is just doing their own thing, but if someone says they want to do something or needs help, then we will always pull together. It really varies: Mhach, ex-primals, Palace of the Dead, hunts, Aquapolis, crafting, or just chatting.

Everyone has full access to everything and there are no expectations. After 1 year it's still going smoothly this way.
