Disappointed in Youkai Watch

if the drop rate is 1/10 (rough guess), then it would take ~2220 fates total. This event is running for 68-69 days, meaning that you would have to (statistically) do 33 fates every single day from the events start to end in order to finish them all, and even that is cutting it fine as you would be finishing on the last day of the campaign, so realistically it is more fates than that per day.

I must be having some obscenely good luck if that is the case because I got 7 in a little over an hour for my first weapon and 4 in an hour when i started on the second, just tagging along with the fate groups and doing my part.

Yes you must have luck. One of the areas i received almost 30 medals before i finally seen a Legendary
I have all minions and mount so that's ok i suppose .....
This is not AS bad as atma was when first introduced, but wow does it suck, lol
I think that is the reason some are so frustrated with this event, because those of us who had endured the atma nonsense almost seems like atma all over again.

XD i am actually doing atma again on a new character while doing this so that pain is still freshly in my mind lol..

I would suggest though that nobody try to just grind for all the medals in a week >.>;; burning out before you get what you need because you tried too hard isn't going to get weapons in to your glamor hoards 4~ a day and you will get there.

From what I hear, someone on the JP server already got all the weapons by doing around 556 FATEs.
You need 222 Advanced Medals to get all the weapons.
At 556 FATEs, that player had to, on average, get a medal every 2-3 FATEs. That's incredibly lucky...

That's variance for you, atma was much the same, with people who got it early being confused why there were so many complaints "the RNG isn't that bad, I got 4 of mine today"

There are people who will be unable to finish the event because of the opposite end of the variance, and with a rough average (I'll be honest 1/10 is nothing but speculative) of 33 fates per day absolute minimum, I can see a lot of people out of luck with this one.

At 703 Fates I now have all the weapons and the mount. I had some awful luck.

Grinding fates all day that's all it is, not worth re-subbing if anyone planing to do so.

They made it 2 months because patch 3.4 comes out in what November-December time? So they had to fill in the gap between August and December or no one would sub. They made no effort in making it fun. After you finish the 5 sentence story you're off to grind fates. They could of put the event in every part of the game like low level dungeons, leves, random monsters, crafting, gathering, and really anything. They could of made it so we had to find the lil'monsters throughout the world that spawn randomly for different players. Nope said developers its like they were closing down early for the weekend on Friday and realized "dammit we forgot to add the Yo-kai items into the game so that player can go and find them". Then that one office guy who doesn't really care about his job, but does enough so the boss wont notice him says "screw it, just add some tokens into the game and make them grind fates all day with a 20% drop rate that should make it last."

I haven't actually started the event yet, and this thread just took any and all motivation out of me to even give it a shot.
I remember how back when this event was announced, Yoshi said he doesn't want players to get all the weapons and to just really think about which ones we want really badly.
Back then I thought "Bring it on! I don't care about the grind! I want them aaaall!"
But.
I never expected the method of obtaining to be MORE fate grinding. MORE RNG. I have the worst luck possible.
I quit the game over the original atmas.
To this day, I STILL haven't managed to get all the crystals for the new relic.
This is the most horrible, laziest event design I have ever seen in FFXIV and I refuse to kill my joy over this again.
Put the rewards in the cash shop or whatever, even if it's $50 per weapon, it's still faster and more easily earned than those FATE medals >_>
