Disappointed in Youkai Watch

How can you be disappointed in something that hasn't released yet?

I think so many people in this thread are misunderstanding the OP's point. He is arguing that the Yokai Watch event is going to ruin his visual perception and appearance of the FFXIV game. The addition of these Yokai Watch event rewards will be adding very cartoonie looking items and mount. The argument that Adamantoise spins around during flight, Fenrir gliding on ice, Lightning Returns, or fighting a boss in a bikini glamour is not really relevant to the OP's comparison. While these may be silly, they still have the "Final Fantasy XIV look" attached to them. That is his point. They do not have the bright colored, flashy anime style appearance nor do they appear to be cel-shaded. Yokai Watch on the other hand, does. Although FFXIV has its fair share of comical themes in some parts of the game, It keeps a "serious" look to the game. Yokai Watch will be adding quite a large number of cartoon aesthetics. And I think that is what is going to ruin his immersion with FFXIV.

A lot of minions in this game are cartoony looking, there are already cartoony looking mounts like the my little pony style mounts and spinning flying turtles plus others, there is already cartoony/cutesy style weapons in this game too. If the OP does not like the look of such things that's fine, it's just her subjective opinion but just because she does not doesn't mean everyone else should be forced to do without.

You claim SE should keep a serious look to the game? Guess you haven't seen all the little piggy dressed people running around, even one of my own characters runs around with a piggy outfit combined with a chocobo head which I am perfectly happy to switch to the poi poi hat which looks as silly if not more silly than the stuff in this upcoming event.

For me, I don't really like the YW collab because I don't think it meshes well and it stands out weirdly. YW = elementary school kids to me, sorry. Probably if the monsters had a different style of design it would be ok for me, but I don't think they fit in.

Good for you but your subjective opinion on what you think looks good doesn't mean much. Why should everyone else lose out on what they are okay with just because you or the OP doesn't like the appearance of these completely optional items? I do not think your character name fits my perception of what a WoL would be named, should you be forced to change it to something that suits my tastes too? You want SE to cater to only your tastes? Well to bad, that's not going to happen.

Well spotted - your subjective opinion doesn't mean much either! And please tell me where I said they should cancel it or take it out so other people ~lose out~? I didn't! I was just expressing my subjective opinion (that I don't like it) as you are.

Also, "lose out on what they are okay with" - doesn't sound like much of a loss if it's only something people are "okay with" to be honest.

I'd be tempted to do this event (despite not wanting the minions/weapons) if only for all the FATE exp but since I have everything at 60 it's hard to justify it. If my friends want to do the FATE grind I'll probably go with them.

I've made multiple threads of praise myself, there's a Mentor appreciation thread on the first page right now along with some PotD praises somewhere. If people want to ignore those and only focus on the negative, that's fine, but as I said, people are actually allowed to dislike something.

It's an event not tied to anything in Eorzea...it's not gonna affect your immerson jeeze you really can't please anyone in this game so whiney and entitled.
