Why are people focusing so much on what we "can't" have because of various limitations (PS3 or otherwise?). It's not like the game is unplayable because we can't have some things.
Sure we can want more, but just think perhaps we've forgotten that the game itself still works just fine... (everyone here is still paying their monthly subscription after all so it can't be that bad!)

I doubt they will drop PS3 support, the same scenario played out with XI and PS2. They will keep supporting until its not profitable, the downside to it is how they keep bringing it up.
Thank you for the responses on the previous page.
However...! I was talking about splitting the playerbase if SE ever made another FF MMO.
Obviously something like that would never work currently in FF14, haha.
People want to see the game grow and develop new and exciting features? I understand trying to make things equal across the platforms but after a certain point it becomes frustrating that they won't allow upgrades and other features for systems that can handle it. We already know they can do some upgrading such as Dx11, so its not entirely impossible for them to add other features. They choose not to because it might upset one crowd but honestly thats not really the fault of the people playing on ps4 or PC. Im not asking for ground breaking features but little things like UI changes and additions that are more QoL and high end modes for overall graphic quality. This what most people are asking for.Why are people focusing so much on what we "can't" have because of various limitations (PS3 or otherwise?). We all pay a sub but that doesn't mean we should just stop asking for changes that only 1 or 2 platforms can use. If people so are envious or jealous that they can't have the new things well save up and buy a new system when possible. The game should not stop growing just because certain systems can't handle things. Many other games have high end modes for there games, why is this game any different?
Regarding older consoles and holding development back. Destiny for example is dropping PS3 and XBOX360 support because they are just too slow and they can't improve the game while supporting them (like it takes forever to menus to open, etc.).
I think (hope) regarding Summoner pet glamours, that they are doing something truly special rather than just introducing a couple things and being done with it. I'd *like* to say that perhaps they're working on the AI of the pets first, opening the potential for a beastmaster or puppeteer class, and they've got to nail that down first -- like baking a cake before you put the icing on it.
But I think when they do release the glamours, it will be something more than any of us expected. Perhaps we will also be able to glamour fairies for scholar and turrets for machinist? Allagan node turrets #yesplease.
I think XIV will drop the PS3 at 5.0.
I don't see any compelling reason to drop it at this time. Also, I'd think SE would give PS3 owners a lot more notice if they were going to be dropping the game from that platform.
Dropping the ps3 at 5.0 makes sense though considering the PS5 is rumored to be launching in the fall/winter of 2018. So that expansion could be made with the PS4/5 in mind, allowing the game to take a refreshingly big step forward.
I say a little prayer each evening that many many housing improvements are in development...
