I don't have much to contribute to the thread as a whole, but as an aside: The reason so many of us are satisfied with that is that we understand that balancing and designing pets is hard work. When you add a pet to Summoner, you add yet another tool, or in the case of Titan-egi and Garuda-egi tools to the Summoner's kit. Summoner is already very powerful in terms of what it can do. The job has a potent targeted buff (Eye for an Eye), one of the most powerful debuffs in the game (Supervirus), is the only damage dealer that can raise, a nigh-passive 5% AoE slow, the strongest bind in the game, and a Heavy that also cuts any incoming healing. Now when we add on pets, we get access to two that can stun, an AoE version of flame spikes, a knock back, a limited off-tank, and the ability to extend their own DoT effects. To add in another pet means to add something in that Garuda-Egi, Titan-Egi, and Ifrit-Egi don't already do or their master doesn't already do, and there isn't a lot of precedence for what we as players can have for them to add a new tool to Summoner that wouldn't break Black Mage's back.
