Same. I want zero changes to the naming system. It's not broke, so don't try to fix it.

What about if you would like to keep your last name, but see no real issue with asking players post 2.0 to keep their entire full names below 20-24 characters long? Might even be easier to add people to your friends list

dont want to shorten name cap, I like both my surname and last name

I think the naming system is fine. Changing it will just create problems like when people got server merged/world transferred in FF11 and had to end up changing their name.
