Make 'Mentor' status reportable

Reporting mentors is harsh and unnecessary.

The quickest solution is to make the Mentor system the way it was in XI: without rewards and without requirements. That way you can be sure that only those who want to be mentors will be mentors.

Put the reward and roulette into something else, easy fix.

yep it should have been that way...BUT when it was time to come forward and SPEAK UP against this stupid system that rewards people for doing ? well to be honest NOTHING (few exceptions I have met so far) is wrong, Mentor system is wrong, such stuff is NOT for immature player base, understand too young to understand what mentoring means. As I said multiple times, when it was time to come foward few did it. Now those that had the opportunity to come forward when it was time didnt do it is too late to complain now wayyy too late.

This wouldn't work - everyone has different expectations of what a Mentor should do. As I've said in multiple other threads, some people expect Mentor's to know everything and everything while others think they're a joke and won't even accept the help offered to them.

People also choose to become Mentor's of crafting, gathering and PvP and do not know every mechanic of every fight in the game. This shouldn't be reportable when for all you know, they've just spend 20 minutes explaining collectibles to someone.

Of course if a Mentor is clearly trolling then that's another story, but Mentor's are human too and sometimes forget some mechanics or need a reminder of a certain fight. Don't be so harsh.

yaaaa let's punish people that are doing essentially charity work that not many want to do.... That makes sense. I doubt anything will be done on mentor system, it's a free system, and it serves the minimal purpose it was intended for better or worse with players that aren't being paid to be essentially interactive help desk.

Mentor status is reportable. Its the same thing as reporting a abusive player. When mentor status came out I remember seeing that SE could strip away the mentor status from people. In really bad cases I guess. If you're asking for a special way to report a mentor then I don't see whats the point. Also from personal experience most people don't like waiting in a EX raid while I explain the entire fight for 15 minutes to one new tank for Garuda EX. People were mad at me for giving him a quick rundown of what to do. I told them it would take a while if I typed out the run in chat. Then when I agreed to explain it to them we sat there for 5 min before people started to leave.


myself I don't like to be told in new dungeons what to do because dungeons are face roll easy to pick up on what to do. new EX raids before the online guides came out is fine for a quick rundown because its new, but usually when a new EX raid comes out people just jump in, die and learn/have small discussion on what happened/what to do.

Mentor Requirments:

As a mentor you are expected to actively perform the following:

Provide gameplay advice for new adventurers and other players.
Be an exemplar for player etiquette.
Invite new adventurers to the Novice Network and answer their queries in the chat channel.

If I tell you "go look it up online" that is a providing "gameplay advice" I'm showing you where you can find the info to this fight. There are tons of videos/guides online and me explaining a EX raid to one guy is hindering the experience for the other 6. I personally hate it when we have to wait for that one guy who couldn't be bothered looking up a old run and then goes on to complain that no one tells him stuff. If you have a question ask in the novice network your server mentor will answer you or provide a link to a fight. usually because they are not in a dungeon.

Customer support will be notified when a player is removed from the Novice Network. If your decision to kick a player from the channel was found to be inappropriate then you may face punishment.
Mentor privileges may be revoked for repeated infractions.

Seriously...... is it that big of a deal? You really want to report someone because they don't play the same way you do? Grow up. Let it go. Quit letting it bother you.

(I qualify as a mentor and choose not to wear the crown because I find the chat annoying, but I don't need to report others because they don't "mentor" like I do)

I personally don't care, but to him/her it is a big deal. Telling them to grow up isn't solving the problem and is only going to lead to more fighting. I'm just saying.

My only issue with the mentor system is running into mentors that don't know how to play their class or role properly. I see it mostly with tanks and sometimes with healers. Had a vault run with a warrior mentor who tried to tank in deliverance. He was decently geared and had his lore weapon, but I still managed to rip aggro from him just by spamming Death Blossom. Told him to switch to defiance and still ripped hate from him on every boss. Other times when I've been tanking, I'll get a healer mentor who waits until I'm at 15% hp to toss a heal or two my way. And I'm a decent tank. I use my CD's to the best of my ability. I'm cool with mentors who are silent and I can even forgive a dick head mentor if they at least do their job properly. But in my opinion, the standards for getting the crown are too lax. Just because you have 1000 comms doesn't mean you earned them from playing well. I get comms sometimes just because I'm the only one in the group who qued solo. And we all know that it's possible to get to 60 without knowing how to play the class. I think there should be a performance test before you get the crown to show that you are at least adequate at the jobs you play. I'm not saying you have to be the top dps, or prove that you dps while healing, or that you can stance dance. I'm saying you should have to prove that you can hold hate as a tank, or that you can heal and keep a tank sitting at a good amount of hp. Dps I don't care so much about, but if you que for tank or healer with the crown, I shouldn't have to get onto you about not performing at an adequate level.
