What's the requirement to enter floor 41-50?

I was with a group doing Palace of the Dead and when we tried to continue to floor 41 it said we didn't meet the requirement to enter but didn't bother explaining why so we had to quit. I don't see anything on the lodestone about it either.

it should have "+" then a number. that number is the level your arm and armor need to be at to proceed. or at least that's what i thought and did and was able to go on

Have you bought Heavensward? I think that's a requirement for entry.

Someone in the group may not have had Heavensward. Was listed in the patch notes that the expansion is required to get to the end.

I read somewhere that you need to have +14 gear to progress to floors 41-50

I think there are a couple requirements for progression, first is SE have limited those on trial accounts to first 10 floors, those without heavensward to the first 40 floors while those with it can go to 50 and of that I am certain. I also think there is a gear level requirement but that I am not 100% sure on and could be wrong about. From what you described OP it sounds very likely one of the members didn't own HW so the group which included that person couldn't proceed further than floor 40.

The requirement for entering floors 41-50 in a matched party is to have both weapon and armour upgraded to at least +12
