In any case, colored chocobos have already been confirmed to be in the planning stages by Yoshi in recent interviews. So if players want those you have nothing to worry about.
Dragons have been incredibly though monsters in the Final Fantasy games, especially in FFXI but also in many other (Nidhogg, Tiamaat, Vrtra). The point was the almighty dragons shouldn't be controlled by an average joe, just the same way that you shouldn't be able to summon the almighty primals. You lessen their impact and things become comical and unbalanced.

Drakes aren't dragons in the sense you are speaking, though. Even the amaal ja keep them as pets/guard-dog style things.

Yeah.. drakes are all over the place in the zones we have now. We can go out an kill them at any time. Definitely not "almighty dragons." Just big lizards.

I don't want to see monster mounts. Coloured Chocobos sounds very nice and is enough. Plus we will get the Magitec Armor. THAT'S ENOUGH!

"Hey guys, let's make it so that we only have one choice for a mount. It's cool because they're different colors." Is there any reason we can't have both? Just sayin'

The only of the showcased mounts I think fits as rideable is actualy the drake, its still very silly but I can see it working alot better into the overall world and lore then riding a evil void beast (arhiman) or a huge angry goobue.

If we have to get "special" (almost half the servers will have em anyways) mounts they've should be from more easily domesticated animals, like some kind of fantasy horse, ox , stag or similar.

I mean outside of the Uldah storyline first battle, ever seen a Goobue that a single player could tackle?
The lowest level ones I've seen are around 70 and thoose are very much aggresive, and as stated besfore Arhimans/Evil eyes are just mean wicked terrible beings no matter what.

They all just feel very out of place, whats next? Rideable Batraal? Ogre, Basilisks or Giant Buffalo mounts?

    Exactly this!

I love the fact that people will get special rewards for paying pre-2.0. But i believe it could have been something else. EX: Special armor for chocobo. Vanity item/gear. Grp teleport item. etc...

Yea except that's way extreme. Out of the shown creatures only the Goobue is large for a mount but it actually would work as a mount. The ahriman probably wouldn't just based on the fact that they're supposed to be demons or whatever but it's of an acceptable size.

These are special limited edition one-time-only mounts that will only get rarer and less common the older they get. These ARE the cream of the crop, and the rarest of the rare. If anything, SE should go nuts on these in particular, don't you think?

Later down the road, they can "tone down" a little on any more common mounts they plan to make in the future.

Rarity or not, if they feel out of place to be rideable it doesnt matter if 1 or 1000 players have them on each server.
So if you ran around outside Uldah and suddenly someone rides past on top of an Ogre you would be okay with it as long as it was "rare" enough?

This has alot to do with immersion and staying inside the built up lore the game offers, straying to far from how we know the world works can break that for people who do care about the game world and take away from their enjoyment.

I'd be fine with special awards for thoose of us who choose to stay with the game until 2.0, however I wouldn't like them to be either all powerful game breaking items nor over the top silly things that just dont fit in very well(or more damn hats, we've got enough of thoose).
