    Thief and Ninja!

I think a couple of the recent interviews mentioned this, and now we have it in the new Live Letter. I really love this idea, and it makes since because previous FF titles have sort of mixed and matched the roles of Thief and Ninja. I know its probably a long ways off (priority on more mage classes and pet classes first), but I cant wait for some THF/NIN goodness. And no I dont want them to be a tank class.

I would really like it to be fast attacking stealth DPS firstly. However, it definately should play a role in helping out with things like opening locked doors in dungeons or opening locked chests and what not. A steal ability would be nice as well, and though not necessary, I wouldnt mind it having a Treasure Hunter effect either. Then by making the Job for thief be Ninja they could introduce a broader aspect to the class. Like maybe it could add on to stealth DPS with enfeebling/crowd control measures (sleep/stun/bind/etc. and slow/paralyze/poison/etc).

Whatever the case I am all over this. Class = THF, Job = NIN, yes please.

Or treasure finding, similar to Lay of Land. I hate missing treasure chests while on leves.

Thief shouldn't be a class. Classes = weapon, while Jobs = Role. Thief should be the secondary job that Gladiator unlocks since gladiator has daggers as well as the soon to be implemented dual weild trait. It makes more sense if Parivir was the Katana weilding class, and Ninja as well as Samurai are the unlockable jobs to that class.

Ninjas can have ninjutsu, and dual weild mastery.

Samurais can unlock defensive and offensive auras through weapons. Samurais should also have the double hand trait to hold the Katana with both hands to maximize striking.

i disagree. thief should be a class. the dagger should be moved so only the thief class can use it.

    1) Gladiators becoming thieves makes no sense at all. You don't go from a plate-wearing, shield-bearing, sword-swinging pit-fighter to a sneaky, leather-armor wearing, dagger-using, agile rogue.
    2) I know Gladiators were supposed to have dual-wielding at launch (and a whole secondary stamina bar for their off-hand), but that idea was scrapped presumably for time purposes. Did they actually mention Gladiators would get dual-wielding back? I think it would just come off as silly at this point.
    3) The types of daggers you use as a Gladiator are more like parrying daggers or gladii. Thieves could easily use any number of short weapons, like kunai, kukris, stilettos, dirks, etc.

Thief -> Ninja would make a lot of sense, and it fits very well with Final Fantasy (Ninja was the advanced job of Thief in the very first Final Fantasy.)

a dude who fights in the pits, in the actual guild half the people wear leather. Notice also gladiator has full access to the best evasion gear in the game. They also have a weapon skill that does more dmg on monsters that arent looking at you.

Im not saying glad has to be theif, but its certainly not out of logical sense, note as well, parry doesnt work with shield, and yet they have parry materia.

main problem with glad being theif, is so much of their skill list is based around shield skills, while it has a couple skills that can be used in other ways, it leaves so much to be desired.

now.... if they did a glad job that used a pugilist or lancer sub, and gave it dual wield/triple attack, or a trait that makes 1 hand weapons proc twice when used without a shield, then you could probably have a pretty decent theif class.

ninja, hmmm it would probably need a lot from pugilist, or use very similar skills, most likely it could be a pugilist 2nd job, or would at least partially require pugilist.

Thief as a class doesnt make sense at all. Thief is meant to be a job.

Ive seen Gladiators wearing leather, equipped with a dagger and shield, and reminded me of a thief.

and your forgeting Archer is going from a DD long range shooter to a Mid range Musical player.

    Gladiator -> Thief. makes sense.

also making thief a class would ruin it all. there wouldnt be no thiefs in parties since its a class, and this games best content would need to be proceeded with Jobs.

Thief cant be a class. Class = weapon, and thief has always been the main Staple Job of most final fantasies.
