    Comcast Lag

Is this ever going to be fixed? Could we get an update on it? I stopped playing in December partly because of this issue, and now I am back 7 months later to find it still isn't addressed.

The issue I have is the same as in the sticky, which as far as I can tell hasn't done anything. I am on comcast and every night around 9pm est I start getting lag spikes. This lasts until 12am or so. Running a tracert to the server I am on shows normal ping to every hop except the level 3 handshake where the ping jumps up a ton and there is massive packet loss.

Can SE maybe respond to this at all? Can we get an update as to what is being done to fix this issue? Maybe we could get the servers to someplace that is more reliable like SE did for the EU servers? This is possibly the most frustrating thing ever, and is only made worse by there being little I can do on my end to fix it. Do something SE.

There isn't anything SE can do, Level 3 is nothing to do with them, nor is Comcast anything to do with them either.

It's your ISP (Comcast in this case) that decides that your route to the Square Enix servers goes through Level 3 so the only way to resolve this is either:

    1) Convince Comcast to route you via another method that doesn't use Level 3.
    2) Use a different Internet provider that won't route you via Levle 3 (which I appreciate might not be an option)
    3) Use a VPN service such as WTFast to tunnel your traffic and try to route you round Level 3 indirectly.

The big SE thread on this I think was partially to show SE was aware of this and so they can contact the ISPs in question... but other than that, it's out of their control. They don't dictate how your ISP manages your traffic and I can't seeing them wanting to pay Comcast to route traffic other ways because likely a lot of ISPs would suddenly start routing through Level 3 and want payment as well.

Same problem here and after nearly a year of comcast bs, I decided to switch my provider. Never been more happy about that decision. Comcast is just a bs company and shouldn't be supported by anyone. Take a look at other providers and you might be able to do the same. It isn't SE's fault and therefore they not gonna do anything about that. GL

Yeah, but that thread has not been updated for a while by SE. I mostly just wanna hear from them where this is going.

I'm not really sure what they can say? That thread itself says in the first post that it might be a routing issue and to contact your ISP. As the thread went on and people provided traceroutes it became clear that it is indeed a routing issue and Level 3 is often a clear cause of the problems.

Pretty sure SE knew that before creating the thread though and that it was probably to politely point out to us that it's not them doing this and that you need to shout at your ISP as it's nothing they can fix.
