Can the GATE "Cliffhanger" be broken by the eternity ring?

My fiancee and I had a thought tonight that one member of a married couple might be capable of using their eternity ring to teleport one person straight to the goal. After a quick search of the forum I found two posts that suggest that it can.

As one of the posts are suggesting this could be considered an exploit and I'm wondering if this can cause people to be suspended or banned for cheating, or if it's seen as not affecting battle, crafting, or gathering in a way that would be harmful for the game.

If it is an exploit, they should deactivate the effect of the eternity ring for the participants of the GATE, like after accepting the GATE-"quest" you can't use the eternity ring till you have reached the summit or fell down.

I know that it is possible to jump back on the cliff instead of being teleported

I wouldn't worry about that. If you aren't using a third party tool to get an unfair advantage then it's not cheating, you're just using the in-game item for its intended purpose to meet your bond partner. The cliffhanger gate is fun and simple anyway without using shortcuts.

You might want to read the ToS. There's a part about not abusing something even in game if you find it. Something not being "third party" is not a full "get out of jail free" card.

Edit: oh the people that were banned from ffxi when they found an npc buying goods back for more than they sold em. Infinite gil and it's all good cause it's not 3rd party right?!

I believe that's possible with the ring, however, if someone reports you for doing this, don't be surprised if you can't log in one day.

I literally thought for the longest time that that was how you were supposed to get back up. It was only back during the MGP bonus event that I realised the NPC teleports you back up alternatively.

Likewise I had a friend that was suspended for a month back in 2.0 for exploiting a glitch with the Demon Wall in Amdapor Keep, no third party software involved. Just because it's not third party doesn't mean you're not cheating.

Well I said that because hundreds of people are using third-party software, and I'm reporting them, and they don't get banned. My world has a lot of people using bot programs for various things. One guy is auto-farming the mor dhona gathering nodes day and night on 3 characters at once, all moving perfectly in sync with each other and resetting to the same designated position between node pops. They must have collected hundreds of millions of gil worth of materials/catalysts over the months without playing the game despite being reported.

North Thanalan has been very popular to Fate bot over the last year, lots of characters doing that to automate the generation of exp, FC credits, GC seals and gil without playing the game. So the chances of a person playing the game the way it is designed with no modifications and getting banned while the real cheaters aren't banned seems extremely unlikely. It would be like murderers in real life receiving no punishment while people who sneeze too loud are arrested. The launch period for ARR is a different case, they don't ban people as easily as they did back then.

No need to be rude while making your point. I was just leaving feedback based on what I've observed as a person who spends a lot of time in the game. As of right now it seems very hard to be banned, and I've seen people using position hacks without consequence. It may be that such things are just difficult to prove, unlike say offensive language in chat which moderators can check.
