I like how many people continue to blame level 3 for the issues when it's well documented that the isp's like Comcast are the ones causing congestion because of under utilization of ports at inter-connects

Everyone is always so quick to blame the game host, which often stems from people being ignorant on how networks and network traffic operates.

Ironically 95% of connection and latency issues are client-side, not server-side. Questions you should ask yourself. When is the last time I rebooted my modem/router? When is the last time I rebooted my system? Is my inbound connection coming from my ISP faulty or having issues? How far away is the server I am connected to? 95% of the time, your issues reside in one or more of those listed. If no one else in your region is experiencing the same issues, then it is NOT Server-side.

I would also like to report the latency issue as well.

To confirm, I ran a continuous ping against Google and the FFXIV server I was connected to, doing 64 byte packets.

Over the course of 1 hour, I averaged a ping of 20ms to google, 56ms to the FFXIV server. I lost 0% of my packets to google, and lost 5% of my packets to the FFXIV server. I noticed that every lag spike coincided with a lost packet to the server.

The lag was sporatic, so I was not able to do a tracert during a packet loss, but there is definitely something happening along the way.

Another interesting note: my wife also plays. We are obviously on the same connection, and she did NOT experience the lag at all. Same server, same instance... how gnarly is that? I'm literally lagging out mid dungeon (where I am able to cast spells and run around but no one else is moving, no NPCS are moving, and no one's health is going up at all) while she is playing like normal.

I have had several other people on my server report similarly.

    Thanks!
