I will say tank wants to dps more then hold hate. I was in a12 (I was drk). The war wanted to tank, being normal who cares. But the black Mage pulled every time and eat burning heat! (I hope that's the name of it). He was in dps stance. So rage happened and I tanked it just fine. The tank event went in to tanking stance and tryed to pull it back from me the hole time. Never had an issue. Me and war had 240 weapons and the Blm had 255 weapon.

Not much you can do if tanks are so bad that quelling doesn't help.

As a tank, I am always happy when a DPS is doing their job. At the same, if I can't keep a mob off a DPS, then I'm not doing my job. There will be times where a mob WILL wander off, but it should easily be recovered. Playing casually, I can still keep mobs on me. The one thing I hated as NIN is when a mob comes for me from a simple Duality + Aoelian Edge (buffed).

Always check your tanks gear as it gives a good idea of how far along they're for gearing. If you notice there is less better then yours give the tank time to build hate and then attack and just remember not to go full throttle as you will easily take hate from the tank if your gear is better.

For that the tank has to be at least 20 ilvl below but its still possible to keep hate as tank if you know what you are doing.

Ya play with better tanks. This is always avoidable. Even if they are under geared a ninja can solve the problem

Most times when i pull hate on a decent tank, its cuz i started to do damage on mobs before he finishes gathering them, but just run the mob to tank so it gets hit by his abilities and they tend to grab it off me. Namely happens on PLDs that decide to "save" the circle of scorn (which on most pulls you really dont need too you will have it off cd by the time you finish the gathering) Do keep in mind that alot of tanks will just ignore one mob on you specially if you start to kite it away from them, and if its on low HP. (when I pull a mob like this i just switch to it and blow the gcd needed to finish it)

The tank will be doing something wrong. They're either not that good at their job, playing as a dps the whole time or you've over geared them by a fair way and it's tough to keep up with you.

I've had higher ilvl BLM pump out as much as possible and not even get to 50% enmity, just meant I stance danced on only bosses as trash died so quickly I didn't need to.

Keep pressing on buddy, seems like you're doing fine, just getting bad groups.

Bad tanks, as i myself can cycle between enemies (with quelling strikes) and get agro.
Usually when there is 3 or less enemies and i get agro or close to i switch target and tend to get agro there also. I also tend to wait a bit before attacking since you never know what kind of tanks you get
And i do not always enjoy tanking as blm, lol
Heck i sometimes pull agro from tanks better geared then i...
Like Ageofwar stated sometimes it is probably just best to quickly burn down an enemy

Definitely this. A tank focusing primarily on tanking, if they're competent and geared, will not be losing aggro. Problem is tanks nowadays treat tanking as secondary to DPS.
