    Patch 3.3 (Trailer) Discussion (2.x - 3.2 Spoilers)

So, as many of you likely already know, the 3.3 trailer hit. Check it out here.

Open with Estinien-Nidhogg making his evil speech about how he's vengeance incarnate. Yeah, yeah, we already know that. In a turnabout from 3.1 and 3.2 the Main Scenario Quest segment is first, consisting of nothing but Aymeric seemingly trying to get Hraesvelgr to finally get off his feathery arse and help us, and the fierce Battle on the Big Br- er, the Final Steps of Faith. End with the Warrior of Light striding toward Nidhogg while the Temple Knights flee for their lives. (We may be near our emotional breaking point, but damn if that's not badass.)

Weeping City of Mhach preview. Starts with normal enemies that become progressively more eldritch as you descend into the depths. Of note is that the boss speculated to be Ozma apparently is not the final one, and it's capable of changing form reminiscent of Ramiel from the Rebuild of Evangelion films. I'd say the final boss is Scatach herself, but that seems unlikely before the finale.

Beast Tribe quests for the moogles of the Churning Mists. As much as I detest the little blighters after 3.0, I'll probably end up doing them just because I want to get my 3.x crafting up...

Hullbreaker Isle (HM), which as promised, has been refitted into a Maelstrom training camp. Final boss seems to be Eynzahr Slafyrsyn, meaning we'll finally get to go toe-to-toe with the legendary Mistbeard himself.

Aquapolis, which there isn't much to say about. Very simple-looking loot dungeons.

More Hildibrand quests. I like the comic relief, and am reasonably certain we are going to need it after the MSQ, but on the other hand I'm getting a little disappointed we still haven't gotten anything from the Scholasticate since 3.1.

Flowerpots, which... don't interest me much, to be honest, seeing as I'm a solo player and thus devoid of housing or rooming to do much with. I did like the casual clothing on the miqo'te in that scene, though; I like using casual outfits for NIN glamours.

4 new hairstyles, including the obligatory pompadour so you can be a proper delinquent now if you want. Still no gakuran to complete the look though.

New gear sets, including Vath and Vanu cosplay as well as a set of pajamas. And the piggy suit.

The Fields of Glory (Shatter), which also doesn't interest me too much because I'm not into PvP (never have been, ever). Looks exciting though, kind of? (I really have no idea what's going on there, so...)

Palace of the Dead, which seems interesting if only for the fact it gives you a never-solid dungeon to go through with yer buddies. Based on the giggling it could be Edda in the depths, but since it's available from Lv17+ that seems unlikely unless she (and the deeper levels) only become available at higher levels. Or something new, and it was just a reused sound clip.

Sohr Khai, which seems to include a fight against Chief Moglin and his Mogglesguard so we can finally beat the stuffing out of them see why they are the allies of the dragons and defenders of the weak in the Churning Mists. Interestingly the final boss seems to be Hraesvelgr, likely as a test to earn his assistance.

... and finally, the Final Steps of Faith, where we get to see Nidhogg's true power. Seems to still use an add phase, albeit with more advanced dragonkin than in the Aery. He also seems to be using a new super in place of Massacre, in which he transforms into a half-Elezen form reminiscent of T9 Nael deus Darnus, summons runes and gathers energy, then uses what appears to be an immensely more destructive variant of the Dragonsong Dive. Will there be an "Estinien" phase to the fight?!

So... let's wait a week and a half! The finalé of the Dragonsong War is fast approaching! (Just pray nobody dies.)

I totally agree with you on the MSQ stuff. Way to look like a badass. I'm looking forward to that cutscene. I've even been picking out my DRG glamour for the scene today (have to fight Nidhogg as a DRG naturally). It looks promising as a dramatic conclusion. I still think it's very likely we will save Estinien in one form or another. I still kind of expect some twist at the end but at this point its possible it might not actually be in the MSQ but perhaps in the Side quest Warring Triad stuff.

Weeping City looks good and though Im not a fan of all the gear sets, I really like the tank set. Mhachi technology is... interesting. It will be curious to learn more. I'm thinking perhaps Ozma might end up being some type of Mhachi control device for accessing Scatach's home base though I really doubt that the end boss actually is Scatch. I think its more likely its some type of old bound Voidsent that controls the area. After all the stuff we are fighting seems to be Mhachi defense systems rather than agents of Scatach.

Moogles.... I'll wait and see if they can actually redeem the little blighters.

The Hullbreaker HM appeals to me a lot more now I know who the last boss is. Its like a nice continuation from our duel with Raubahn in 3.2. Its nice we get to challenge some of the Eorzean Alliance's top fighters.

Hildibrand will be fun though I'm not overly excited. The Warring Triad sidequests interest me more. We get the next Scholasticate stuff in 3.4 according to Yoshi P.

Field of Glory could be interesting. Im incline to wait and see if their is any interesting lore tied to it. After all the lore behind the other Frontlines locations was pretty interesting.

It never occurred to me that the low level and how that would impact on them being able to use Edda. Its a good point. Perhaps its not Edda but it will give us hints and what led her down the path she went down.

Im actually wondering if Sohr Khai will actually be us beating Hraesvelgr into listening to us rather than simply him testing us. Basically we go a fewrounds till he finally calms down enough to listen. Its interesting in the MSQ he was standing next to two dragons. One was Vidhofnir. The other looked like the friendly dragon from the Darkscale FATE chain in the Churning Mists. Also interestingly in the Final Steps of Faith, those adds look like Darkscale's underlings. It would be nice if that FATE chain ties into the MSQ.

Nothing about it in the trailer, but we all know the best part of this patch, right? Right?

    Best
    Friend
    Eli
    Forever
    Part 2.5!

And guaranteed survival until at least 3.5.

But seriously, I do wonder why that isn't in the trailer. The fact that we're fighting Garleans again is a pretty big deal in the larger scale. I'm wondering if there's a plot twist they're not ready to reveal yet.

(also, those icky healer/caster Bellbottoms from the 24-man. I thought we were done with those forever).

Hullbreaker HM, well i loved Hullbreaker. Moogles for next Beast Tribe..... sigh
Not only did i hate searching for them, fetching stuff i am not a huge fan of crafting so 2X for me on that one.
Overall though it should be an ok patch

For those who don't know or are getting the wrong idea about the weeping city, that is NOT scathach NOR an agent at the end, that is Calofisteri, one of the demons sealed within the tree in the forest of moore, aka exdeath. I am a firm believer that we won't be fighting scathach as the final boss, i firmly believe we'll be fighting exdeath, tinfoil hats boys!

    Ok, first of all...

    Now..back to the topic.

I really wasn't expecting many conent on MSQ, given also that this is patch. Guess they wanted to leave the best for the end?? Anyway, it seems that dragonsong war will have a big and epic finale.

Kind of shock to see Hraesvelgr as a dungeon boss, but in some way it make sence right? Nidhogg the "demon dragon" was the boss of a dark and tetric dungeon, all destroyed with roots and spines. Now we are on a white and shiny palace on the heavens to fight a celestial dragon. Im also happy how Hulbreaker was made, it seems that this time we will have 2 very enjoyabe dungeons.

Very interested to see tha there is a high relation with the possetion of Estenien and the tempering of Nael. Of course is not a coincidence.

We yet have to see why we are going to the weeping city, what do we expect to find there? I agree that Ozma is not a voidsent, but rather a Mach defence system.

Do my eyes desieve me? Did the moogles finaly get out of their flowers and started to work?

I wonder if those word that Estenien-Nidhogg said is before we defeat him or after.

I'm pretty excited. Seeing the trailer scene actually recreated in-engine made me squee a little bit. Not only that, but I feel like going into that duty as a Machinist will be the ultimate resolution of the Machinist's guild questline for Ishgard. As an expert Machinist, I will finally show everyone in Ishgard the true potential of our art

That's what makes us a bona fide hero though. It's not the divine blessing, martial might, or ability to topple impossibly powerful foes. We advance toward what lesser souls retreat from... even if we're probably just as terrified, especially since Estinien is our in-universe dear friend.

I gotta do it in my now-iconic crimson (Dalamud) red Chaos set. (Not like I can do it as anything else, given I've taken a break from the game in general and just started playing again to level [MRD/WAR]/[PGL/MNK]...)

The skirmish with the Garleans and van Hydrus probably isn't in the trailer because it doesn't add anything (it's just an instanced fight in the ARF a la the Vault fight from 3.1) and doesn't relate to the story (the final battle against Nidhogg and the Horde). It might be important to the overarching Triad plot (and thus the overall plot of the game), but it's not a big deal right now.

Palace of the Dead is going to be in 3.3.

Also adding, not sure if anyone notice it. But it seems that the fight against Nidhogg will take on different parts ot the Steps of Faith and not just on once place.

Glad I finally finished off my Dreadwyrm gear for Ninja, because what outfit could be more appropriate for fighting two of Midgardsormr's brood than their dead brother after I killed and skinned him?

I'm pretty sure we'll save Estinien, but far less sure about how everyone else will take it. I can already picture both Aymeric and the man himself being less than pleased of the mockery Alphinaud will inevitably make of their manly resolve. By, you know, ruining a perfectly good martyrdom and saving them and stuff.
