Im pretty sure a couple of those will get implemented. technically monks/black belt traditionally used tonfa and nunchaku as equippable weapons in the past, maybe theyll do something similar
A whip would really be great. I can imagine tons of AoE type moves to come from it.
I think we'll see a whip on Beastmaster, if it ever gets implemented. A pet tank job would be fairly unique. Not sure about the other two though much as they would be cool.
Apparently, a certain old concept document that has been floating around online since 1.0's development that lists hypothetical classes and their weapons/ability styles that SE were considering for inclusion in FFXIV 1.0 indeed lists among other things, a whip-wielding Disciple of War class called 'Flayer' (or 'FLA' for short).
Of course this document is no longer accurate, given the fact it was for 1.0 and not ARR (it also lists many legendary never-added classes like the original form of Arcanist, Musketeer, Shepherd, class forms of Bard, Samurai, a rapier-wielding class called Fencer, and a true unarmed base class simply called 'Adventurer') and the changes made to classes and the Armoury System, it should be taken with a grain of salt and a healthy chug of skepticism. But it does show at the very least that SE have at least looked at the idea, if not still interested in considering it. But nothing is known for certain.
Whips were used as well as flails and maces in past series, id agree with a tamer/beastmaster using whips it would fit the aestheticm either that or vampire hunter(belmont) lol
Back in 1.0 a 4th Disciple of the Land class was planned that used a whip to herd animals. It never got implemented though. There's been speculation that this may eventually resurface as the Beastmaster job. I would personally absolutely love this since pet classes are my thing in MMOs and FFXIV is decidedly lacking in them.
As far as the immediate future is concerned though I think 4.0 will bring us two or three new jobs, of which one is almost certain to be Samurai (Yoshi has teased it a few times). There's hope that we might see Red Mage, Blue Mage or Dancer as well but all three of those will be decidedly difficult to implement due to their hybrid natures that don't fit into FFXIV's rigid class structure very easily. Dancer has a lot of potential as a Disciple of War healer though, using TP instead of MP. Lots of cool stuff they could do with that.
Personally, I would love to see Dancer as a tank, where it uses evasion to mitigate damage. Balancing the job in such a role would be incredibly difficult, but it would be a nice change of pace for tanks who have been somewhat similar to one another at their core concept. In the end though, I suspect we'll only see two new DPS: Samurai and Red Mage-- the latter of whom will play more like a Spellsword.Back in 1.0 a 4th Disciple of the Land class was planned that used a whip to herd animals. I think that list is sill semi prevalent.. there was an executioner and an assassin that used "Dark Arts" combined, that made it to DRK. I thought there was a shepard that used di-staffs, idk where i read the concept of that was similar to machinists originally being able to drop both turrets, or where one did one effect and the other another....so might still be relevant though a vast majority of those classes(sentinel) just got glued together with other ones(gladiator)
Nunchaku is just another weapon for kang-fu fighters, aka monks.
