Red key icon, Main Quest enemies wont drop items.

A good friend of mine is having trouble progressing in a Main Scenario Quest because of the enemies not dropping the quest items. I'm sure it has something to do with the red key icon hovering over these enemies heads but we don't know what it is.

I think I found the answer. Here's an excerpt from the 3.3 patch notes. So see about getting An Eft for Effort.

[2.0] The requirements for accepting and progressing through the following main scenario quests have been adjusted:
Eggs over Queasy
Before:
Required Level: 6
Prerequisites: Players must first complete the main scenario quest "Chasing Shadows."

After:
Required Level: 7
Prerequisites: Players must first complete the main scenario quest "An Eft for Effort."

That was exactly it. Since they rearranged the order, he ended up have to do the Eft quest first and then it unlocked the enemies for him!
