    Dragoon or monk?

    Hello all
I am thinking of trying a new dps class I main a paladin bit also have a ninja lvl 54 however after returning from the game I have not been enjoying ninja at all since I last played was wondering what everyones thoughts on monk and Dragoon are. I've only ever played ninja as a dps so not sure what the monk and Dragoon play styles are like

What don't you like about ninja? I think knowing this would help us steer you better.

MNK at 60 is nice, a aoe maniac on trash and a powerhouse on the boss. Lacks group wide offensive utility but still nice to have around. It is nothing but flank and rear positionals but I find that negligible once you are familiar with it, cause one combo is all flank and the other combo is all rear, than a variation when it is applicable, keeps it fresh.

My DRG is only 53 since I just started working on it but it is a breathe of fresh air coming from a MNK main, sadly though someone else may need to guide you there with level 60 insight. Have fun on whichever one you choose!

MNK involves having lower GCD (around ~2 seconds, like NIN) and dashing around the enemies for positional attacks and manage your Grease Lightning buff to maximize your DPS.

DRG involves lesser amount of positional and higher GCD (around 2.39-2.4 seconds), but need to pay more attention to their buffing skills (Blood of the Dragon, Blood for blood and weaving in multiple Jumps) to maximize their DPS.

Personal DPS expectation: MNK > DRG > NIN
Raid DPS contribution: NIN > DRG > MNK

I keep hearing this, how good MNK aoe has become on HW, but he still has Rockbreaker only, and ok, Elixir Field every 30 seconds... but isn't that a bit underwhelming? What makes MNK aoe that good?

Mnk has Arm of the destroyer, Rockbreaker, Howling Fist and Elixir field as aoes at 60. They got Purification to add more tp buffer to go with invigorate so they can use more aoes before they run out of tp.

It's good because if you have your buffs up, using a 220 potency aoe and then a 130 aoe and then a 210 aoe makes for some heavy aoe burst. And then having your 130 potency aoe every third gcd keeps you at good aoe sustain. It's the burst combined with the sustain that allows you to tear through trash mobs

MNK is your ticket to carpal tunnel. Fast attacks, awful chakra building (literally hit the button 5 times per everything you want to do once), etc. Not having greased lightning up (especially between pulls) makes you so slow and it feels boring getting back up there. I find its rotation the most fun though, just wish building greased lightning / chakra wasn't a thing. AoE is amazing, and if you want to top damage charts, this is the route to go.

DRG has random positionals and an annoying timer to juggle as you add and subtract time from it. You get heavy armor glamour as dragoon, and that's something good.

I like NIN the best currently. Rotation isn't as "fun" as monk's, but it has the least game mechanics that get in the way of fun and fighting enemies.
