What race and gender is your main character?

Hi everyone! I wanted to get a feel for Eorzea's demographics, so I made a poll. I posted it on the FFXIV subreddit earlier, but wanted to get a larger sample size. If you'd take a moment to answer I would really appreciate it!

Also, can I ask why you chose the character you did? Is it solely for the appearance? Lore? To match a friend?

1. Catboys brought me to the game so I was definitely going to play as one
2. I like darker skin tones, especially in this pale catboy/girl sea... and red hair is great.
3. I liked the lore of Keepers more than Seekers.

For me it has always been a point of placing myself (idealized) in to the setting. when completing task, enjoying the story, interacting with the world, or simply playing with good friends, the idea that I was there was and is very important to me. I do have alternate accounts and more than a few alts, however my main will always be my Highlander Hyur male.

Highlander ftw because of the muscle and body shape. Also I love tan skin on most male character.

I started the game with a Hyur midlander. At the time they were the one of the only races with (or perhaps the only race) with afro hair. Was sort of an afro mohawk.

Didn't even make it far with him because I didn't like his face in the end. He was just too young looking and I think I was at a point where I was tired of seeing teenagers save the world for the 100th time. Plus I felt inadequate next to the highlander males (AND Females lol...)

So I rolled a Fem Roe. Maxed out her sliders so she'd be as big and as muscular as the game would allow. I really liked the satire of being able to go ham on things as a chick. Also I seldom have an opportunity to play games as a muscular female, so that was thrilling. I was a warrior, but this was way back before they had the overhaul so tanking as them got a lot negative responses from other players. Back when PLD was the games true tank.

Later during the main story quest there's a part where you can see a female lalafell npc doing her dance emote in the background. At that moment I knew I had to roll a lalafell. Part of me wanted to step away from the negative public opinion of maining WAR, and another part of me was drawn in by the sheer cuteness.

So today I main a Dunesfolk Lalafell. Changed her hair into an afro when it got into gold saucer and I'm having a blast.

Hyur Highlander Male. I have a habit of trying to make characters look like me but this one didn't work out the greatest. But I still enjoy using the look tbh.
