Fixed your second point for you. I love how people love to toss that around yet have no proof that the money from the cash shop goes into the developmental budget. Maybe people do not realize how successful SE really is...

We know for sure SQEX isn't injecting any more money into FFXIV. Do you know what percentage of our subs go to dev budget?
I think we don't either. We can only assume more money means the dev team gets a higher budget, whatever % of the share they get.

    Better idea guys.

How about they make quests and completing them allows you to purchase such and such attire on Mog Station!?

    Keh keh keh.

    I'll see myself out.

So the logic is that players should spend more money in the cash shop to increase the chance of SE giving the development team a bigger budget? Okay. In an ideal world that logic would make sense, but in reality, if the revenue is increasing while the team can still work within the set budget, chances are the team will just get a raise but not a budget increase...

It would be nice if SE add content requirements to the cash shop items (can buy glamour XY only if you did first content Z ingame).
This way it have a bit of both for people who want it with money and people who want to do contents for it.

People need to have standards man...I'm not against the CS selling various cosmetics, but honestly, they've been adding more and more stuff that hasn't been allowed the chance to be acquired in game somehow for a limited time (cid/minfillia outfit just as examples). If its had a chance to be acquired in game at least once then sure sell it in the CS (lightning returns like 3 times). But seriously, its just showing more greed since even the event rewards are more lackluster than the ones of the previous year.

The system is already in place, I'm going with the realistic approach here. It's unrealistic for me to create a thread asking for them to change a system already in place, and whilst asking if they are adding more costumes.

If you guys wish for a policy change in how they do these outfits, I'd suggest creating another thread doing that.

It's unrealistic for you to ask for new content to be developed and implemented as paid for by your subscription?

Do you actively ask retail stores to charge you more for things when you get to the checkout? Because that's what this thread is doing...

The things is, you're acting as if glamour based micro transactions are a new thing (In P2P or F2P MMO's) when it's been a successful model for many. So while you as a consumer may think it's unfair that you have to pay extra for the pretty dress, it's unrealistic to expect the business model to change. There's 2 courses of action that can happen reasonably, 1) Most players stop using the cash shop or 2) accept it. At this point 1 is not happening, so to answer your question- Yes it's unrealistic. It sucks, sure, but OP was merely pitching skin ideas to a medium where they'd likely occur.

I agree with what you're saying but I think you're missing the point. A business transaction generally works on the premise that the seller charges as much for it as they can and the buyer pays as little as they can, with the outcome being a compromise between the two parties. People such as the OP going straight to asking to be charged for something that by all respects could be offered as part of our subscriptions is the equivalent of going into a transaction and asking to be charged more for it. This behaviour encourages the sellers to become greedy and start charging higher and higher prices. It also makes them more likely to prioritise the cash shop over 'free' content as part of the subscription.

The reason the OP is asking for it to be in the cash shop is because they are impatient and think that requesting it there makes it more likely to be implemented sooner. They could simply ask for it to be implemented at all and let SE decide where to release it though. Resorting straight to asking for it to be sold in the cash shop is like throwing out every bargaining strategy you have without any reason. It's just pure anti-consumer.

I don't think anyone here is arguing against the cash shop's existence at this point. We would, however, prefer that as little as possible were sold in the cash shop instead of being made available in-game. The comments in this thread are largely to ensure that SE realises there are far more people here that would oppose the release of any such future content in the cash shop. We've seen what happens in other games when the cash shop gets out of hand and we've seen such outcomes completely destroy game communities. A regular, vocal resistance to the cash shop on these forums serves to remind SE not to risk such a fate for this game, and thus responses like those above will continue to appear on every thread requesting anything be added to the cash shop.
