the warrior of darkness say that the first was the closets one to the source.considering the first world is furthest away from the source id assume the thirteenth world is our next door neighbor as we live in the source world(14th? how ironic) It was stated that the 13th fell to darkness and is now the voidsent world, so whatever paradoxes may be. I find it incredibly strange that hyedalyn was so weak when light is literally consuming an entire realm, albeit the furthest from the source but she had to be aware of this going on, unless interference from the darkness of the 13th world kept her from being aware or connected. Also very confused how the warriors of darkness could purge all darkness from their realm unless they just extinced beast tribes and anything using aether to drain the light

Personally I'm starting to think that the Void is the result the Ascians first go at doing something to aid/free Zodiark, and they didn't really understand what they were doing. It was more "This shard here is more inclined to the dark, lets flood it with dark, and that'll be great, right?! . . . or not."
Elibidus takes steps to maintain the balance in the First Shard, but the Void is old, dating at least to the third Astral Era. It makes more sense that it was created before they came up with the concept of the Rejoining instead of just being a failed Rejoining. Why have they let is sit for millennia without attempting to do something about it? If it was a Rejoining how did they even mess it up the in the first place?
I think that the WoD and Kidibus are part of the same goal for Elidibus, to bring those worlds back into balance and make them viable for the rejoining. As to why he feels the need to solve the problem of the Void now: Voids can't be Rejoined. Presumably, at some point the Ascians tried. Seven shards have fallen, Hydaelyn is weak and six shards and the source remain. One more rejoining could tip the scales in Zodiark's favor (or if we don't count the Source it may already be in Zodiark's favor) and it would be best to take advantage of that can cause as many Rejoinings in succession before Hydaelyn would have a chance to counter act it. Unlike past calamities the Ascians didn't take off but are instead still very much up to something. Most of the Ascians (excepting perhaps Elidibus) we have seen have been intent on causing another calamity immediately--even though the last Rejoining was a success. It is an odd break in the Astral/Umbral Era cycle.

Well now that we actually have information, this warrants revisiting!
The Void is the Thirteenth Shard, drowned in Darkness. Exactly how Voidsent come into existence remains unknown, but if as hypothesize Dark is the melding of all elements a slight imbalance could give rise to a sentient being. These Voidsent then seek paths to other worlds, either through Voidgates or being summoned via dark arts, so they might consume as much aether as possible and grow ever more powerful.
Exactly when the Void came into existence can be approximated, though not pinpointed, if one charts the timeline of the cosmos as we know it.
1. Light and Dark coexist in the primordial world.
2. Hydaelyn banishes Zodiark, creating the Thirteen Shard worlds.
3. The Age of the Gods, eventually ended by the First Umbral Calamity. Astral / Umbral Era cycle begins; Shards are Rejoined with the Source as it turns.
4. Third Astral Era - Voidsent are known to exist.
5. Cycle of Astral and Umbral Eras until we reach our current time.
The creation of the Void would have to be somewhere between 2 and 4, as Voidsent are known to have existed during the time of the Allagan Empire.
