    Couple quick notes:

    1. New adventurer status controls more than just whether you are eligible to be in the novice network or how other players elect to mentally categorize you. It controls a 20% XP bonus when grouped with a mentor sub-20 (including level sync). It renders you eligible for free aetheryte pendulum teleports. Bullying people into removing the status to avoid being harassed is most definitely not the answer.

    2. The novice network is subject to the same rules enforcement as any other chat channel. If there are trolls there, report them to GMs. Also note that kicking someone from the novice network doesn't magically do anything. You have to actually report them yourself. There's zero proactive follow-up on a kick.

    or maybe you should just disable the mentor chat from all of your chat windows and if you don't know how to do it, you propably should be in the mentor chat.

    No, the expectation is that a novice may not have any idea how to chat, how to parse the idea of being invited to something, or know that they even may need help in the first place (this one is especially true).
    While I've not been very invite-happy myself, helping people who are invited, even if it's to help them out of it (there's some irony there...) is still how it should work. We don't need people who do need help hitting No on their invites. Nor do we want to pester them with consistent invite prompts.

    Are you serious? Why would "people who do need help" hit no if prompted to join a channel that offers help? Or are you implying that people who are too stupid to decide if they want to join a channel to offer help or not are the ones we should be creating systems around?

    Considering the quality of players in general, sometimes you do have to question their rationale.

    Or you could just, you know ASK the player before blindly inviting them, "Hey would you like to join the Novice Network so if you have questions players can help you?".

    I was on an alt on another server to visit a friend & instantly got slapped into the novice network without any sort of notification. When asked if I could be booted I proceeded to get yelled at by "mentors" as if I was flipping out when all I said was "boot me.". They also kept insisting I take na status off, which is dumb imo when said "mentors" could have just sent me a /tell to see if I wanted to join in the first place.

    Anywho, it got to the point where no one would boot me and I couldn't turn the status off & it became this stupid deal that all could have been avoided had there actually been some communication instead of blind invites.

    (btw you can't turn na status off if you're in a house, they wouldn't kick me cause it auto re-invites, which is also dumb. So I had to step outside & turn off my NA status because other people had ants in their pants & had to invite me w/o asking & then went on to throw insults at me when I couldn't turn status off instead of helping like a mentor should. Nice mentoring! -_-)

    I feel a wee bit offended that I have yet to be tossed into the novice network on any of my test characters.

    Why not just simply filter Novice Network on your chat log?? ^^;

    Hi all Tami Sanri here \(^-^)/
    I was told to direct my feedback to the forums by a Game Master and I found this thread. I am sorry if this is not the right place for this.
    I started this game about a week ago and after poking around happily for a couple days exploring I was invited to this novice network. I guess this is done when I wasn't looking because I came back to my PC and saw a whole bunch of random text on the screen. At first I thought the area around me was talking a lot but then I realized I was in a different text thing. I had to ask for help from a passerby since no one was willing to answer my questions between their conversations unless I repeated myself 3 or more times. I would agree that seeing some sort of yes or no box pop up would be much appreciated before putting me here as I wasn't sure exactly what it was. For those inviting please tell me first.

    I did read back through my log and could find nothing from anyone asking me if I would like to participate. When in this thing please do not refer to me as fresh meat or fodder. I understand maybe it is joking but after the 9th or 10th time it gets a little old. I do not understand a lot but I also didn't like being told that I was picking a hard job and would likely fail and since this is my first time with an MMO I should play something easier. I appreciate the concern but let me try things out to find what I like and try to not tell me I suck and instead offer constructive feedback. I am willing to learn but I am not willing to listen if someone is going to be a jerk to me.
