What decided your main job class?

Warrior: Mainly aesthetics. I'm actually a sword-and-board kinda tank, but unfortunately they gave that setup to paladins - which I'm not a big fan of - and gave the big axes to warriors, which strike me as more of a melee DPS weapon, not a tank weapon (same with greatswords for dark knights, which I like more than paladins but not as much as warriors). So it basically came down to which tank class I could live vicariously through for 60 levels, and warriors are definitely it.

I went Bard because of the mobility factor and given how it's ranged it gives me a better view of the fights and all the chaos that comes with them and see the surrounding area details.

I literally always choose either range/archer class or stealth/thief class.
Rogue/Nin wasn't out when I started so.... archer it was.

My fighting strategy boils down to: don't touch me :T (whether that is due to killing you from 1000 feet away or from a sneak attack)
I actually really am glad the armory system allowed me to try other classes since I...never choose any others.... but I'm pretty much a ranged video game fighter for life

When I joined in 2.3 I wanted to play a healer, because I like healing classes/jobs, so I picked CNJ/WHM. After I played the job for a while, I decided I wanted a dedicated DPS job so I decided on ACN. Well when I discovered that ACN split into Summoner and Scholar, I was hooked. I was still in the mindset of playing only Summoner, but I used Scholar to level in duty finder, and the more I played it the more I loved it. I found myself able to heal and DPS with ease and had more fun. Scholar is just designed beautifully. Great healing and mitigation spells, a nice fairy pet, and good DoT spells, the complete package. I don't remember when the tipping point was for me on loving the job, but now I do and I want Scholar in mlre game... Please SE, lol.

That and Salve-Maker from Bravely Default.

Used to love Bard till I met 3.0, then I changed to blm. I'm usually drawn to ranged dps in any game and didn't really want to deal with a pet so much in raids etc.

I main a WHM. I started out as a CNJand never thought that they were a healer class up until later on, by then I didn't feel like restarting the game, so I continued on.

Looking back, I probably sucked as a healer as I could not quite handle the pressure and by 2.1 I switched SMN and eventually leveled up the rest. By 2.4ish I decided to try WHM again, and I was impressed at how"good" I felt I was. I was healing and dpsing and even somebody commented how I had more dps output than the SMN (lol). I think leveling other jobs improved my skills as a WHM, I was no longer afraid to dps, atleast.

Fast forward to now, I still main WHM. I love the animations and Holy spam never gets old.

With how restrictive Enochian is and how fun Dreadwyrm Trance is it was an easy choice.

Swords. I always feel the main character of RPG (mainly eastern RPG) uses sword. For some reason I think the Sword as the "Main Weapon". The Sowrd is also usually a RPG icon (also the Cane). And of course, I like swords over all the other weapons. So I started as Gladiator. When DRK was announced I didn't doubt to change main class to Dark Knight, but I still use the Paladín a lot.

The only thing can make change my mind will be the Samurai, as the katanas are my favourite weapon of all. But with the condition is if Samuari is a Tank. If it is a DPS, then he wil lbecome my seconday class, and keep Dark Knight/Paladin as main. I won't like a Samurai DPS class as much as tank. And also, if the Samurai uses katanas, but real katanas, not this (that more liek a chinese longsword).

I wanted to be AST at first because of the lore and aesthetics - I've always been really interested in astronomy, healing has always been my favorite role, and I love the look of their armor/spells. So, I decided to start out as WHM and I ended up switching to AST when I got WHM to 60. I didn't care for the card system and first and I was wondering if it was even a good idea to play a class because "they look pretty," but I ended up really enjoying the cards, too.

My dps class at the moment is NIN because, after healing, I've always liked nina/rogue classes. I don't like dpsing nearly as much as healing, though, because I tend to get really bad tunnel vision. :x

This admittedly use to be how I had been, neglecting any potential learning of any tank or healer class when the game first came out. Eventually I forced myself out of my comfort zone, and soon managed to enjoy both Warrior and Paladin as I had unlocked their third yet primary enmity strike, as well as their tank stances. The sudden immense gain of enmity control was very gratifying. Dark Knight was just icing to the whole thing.

It wasn't as difficult with healer types as it were for tank types with me, but it had expectedly begun as an awkward trip, steadily leaning into an enjoyable experience. Though a tad boring on rather ASMR like runs. Hard to heal while my head is bobbing around from falling asleep mid-run. >>;
