Please don't fret AlphaFox/Rena, all the jobs got more difficult to play from 2.0 to 3.0.

I'd say bard was bordering on boring in A realm reborn. Because of how easy it was and the ability to hop skip and jump around willy nilly 24/7. With machinist it put support in a good spot. With procs your abilities become instant cast like old school A Realm Reborn. Gives Bard and Machinist more mobility than BlackMage for sure. Now knowing fights ahead of time and being strategic and fast with procs will come into play.

In XI I was a taru mage (started white mage to be more in demand then switched to black mage when I decided I liked blowing up stuff more), so in XIV I decided to go big and go DPS (I tanked a bit in XI and enjoyed it but wanted to get used to the game before jumping right into tank as main).

In beta I was an elezen monk (one of my fave DPS jobs in XI), but something about dragoon appealed to me (the jump attacks, probably - I've never been a huge fan of the traditional dragoon armor, as iconic as it is in FF).

So for 2.0 I went hyur dragoon and have pretty much stuck with it as main. Monk is probably my second favorite DPS. I enjoy tanking more than I did initially, but I lean more towards DPS jobs. I'm definitely not a fan of healer jobs.

I love pet classes, so immediately started to work towards SMN. Along the way, I started the CNJ quests, and I was actually drawn to the story (I so understood!) and ended up making that my main to 60 and for a while afterwards. When 3.3 hit, I switched back to SMN as main, because I missed my pet! I do still like to heal on both WHM and SCH, I keep both fairly close in gear.

I decided one day I needed to level a tank as well, and asked my FC which would be easiest to learn, and they said DRK, so I went with that. Got her to 57 so far, looking forward to having one of each at 60!

I actually started off as a DRG when I first started this game 2 years ago. At first I did what I liked to do in games and made a couple of alts for other classes (PLD and SCH), though when I got DRG to 50 and started doing endgame stuff I realized it would be preferable, for me, to have all the classes on the one character. I deleted the two alts (they were only about lv 30 anyway) and started leveling the jobs on my main character. As I leveled up SCH and started learning how to play it...I fell in love. I've been a healer main ever since, with SCH as my main.

When HW came out I also found myself interested in MCH and it was the second job I got to 60 after SCH. It was a bit complicated and tough to get used to and I decided to see if I would prefer one of the other dps at 60 (as i like to cap all my jobs since i do enjoy leveling them). Just recently, though, I decided to pick up MCH again, determined to learn how it worked. Since I had trouble figuring out things like the optimal opener and such on my own I looked at guides for MCH and practiced playing the job in SSS (since leaving and coming back resets all cooldowns and such so its better than a normal dummy) until I had my rotation down and now I just love the job. It is my main dps and my alternate main to my SCH

My first character was a Bard main because I didn't know anything from the game, so coming from Ragnarok Online I chose something that I thought would have great solo capabilities and better leveling options. I was wrong, and when I learned a little more about the game I chose my current main (and possible my main until this game closes) WHM. I always loved WHM in all FF games so it made sense.

I have always been a Gun and Technology type character player so I stuck with machinist.

Until a Gunblade Job is released and if that Gunblade Job is a DPS Job I will be sticking with Machinist until then.

I was sorta forced to do SCH back around 2.0 when my FC was making a static. NOW that being said I learned to love the job and it's the only healer I play now. I can play it blindfolded now and everything is just muscle memory now

I opted to go with SMN at ARR launch due to similarities running as an affliction warlock in WoW. I've stayed with SMN throughout 2.0 despite being on the low end of damage output solely due to having battlerez for when healers need to focus on the living, and HW just made things fun later on as I had just cleared Final Coil before the expansion launched. So I had an appreciation for the new move set. That and Carby is cute.

There isn't too much to say. Monk had become my primary primarily due to the stance system. Unlike the other classes, it requires you to move a lot to do damage, and reward you with high potential damage as a result. There's something rewarding about mowing down mobs a dungeon, or knuckling down on a boss with this class, and knowing it's through that additional necessary effort.

I don't mean to disrespect any other damaging class. I mean, I do plan to fully experience all classes to 60 eventually. It's just, nothing inspires me to do more than a class that already requires me to dance around, punch butts, and crit high numbers.
