What decided your main job class?

At launched I went straight for MNK because I always end up playing the MNK type. Once I hit fifty though I jumped straight into MRD/WAR because I love to tank. From 2.1 till 3.0 it was love, and I didn't play anything else until I felt I needed a PLD because I was having trouble solo tanking the EX trials for Kirin.

Since 3.0 I've "mained" DRK and have it's relic at hyper conductive, but... with WAR at 59 right now its looking like I'm about to go back to my true love. It hits like a truck, it mitigates fantastically, buff's itself, and heals itself as well. I've also grown to love PLD a lot more at 60, but it looks like DRK is about to take a back seat the rest of the expansion.

However if 4.0 we go to Ala Mhingo I'm totally using monk for the main story.

There is nothing I like more from any game that has magic in it than to delve in powers that move the story while staying true to the character I am playing. When I found out while playing that the first job I chose (arcanist > summoner) was that and more, I was hooked. Being able to give some support in the form of a weak heal, virus, battle raise and eye for an eye was a bonus.

I did not know this at the time so I chose the most logical job of the bunch for me, arcanist. Back then I figured since this is an MMO and you start out really, really wimpy, a pet would even the odds a bit. The story, which is played mostly solo, proved my thinking correct in many ways.

Now I am bashing my head against my desk (metaphorically) every day looking for that second job that clicks with my play-style the most.

DRK because I'm a fan of big swords. I hope to one day become a top-tier blacksmith and forge myself some greatsword-chucks so I can surpass my master.

The movie was released back in 2008 just after FFXIV was initially announced at E3 and I remember thinking at the time: I want to make a character to decimate my enemies just like this guy. Believe it or not, I could identify and relate to him in several ways in real life and I wanted my FFXIV character to reflect that.

This is the prime reason why Dragoon was my first job class in the game ever since beta 1.0.

Even though by 2.0 in 2013, I eventually made Black Mage my Main (mainly because it afforded me an easier way of getting out of the horrible AOE issues at the time)... Dragoon (and the Prince Nuada template) continued to remain special.

Ever since 1.0 I was waiting for Dark Knight, I have always loved everything about the class/ job since the earliest of the FF series days. While I will admit I was initially taken aback by it role as Tank, the chance to play as one in FFXIV has been much appreciated. In a way I guess I already knew how it was going to turn out, my first classes to 50 in preparation of DRK were GLD and MRD back in 1.0 with a sub class THM at 30... before the Job system was implemented. Hoping all those Samurai Tanks get to have the same feeling I do when play my DRK, there's a reason why the person with sword is in front of the enemy, their the Hero.

I wanted to try out a DPS and I liked armoring my character up alot.
While playing I kept noticing all these other characters running around in the Drachen set(this was around 2.0's release) and thought it was cool.
So during PS4 Beta I picked Dragoon and found it fun and stuck with it ever since.

I play mage class in nearly every game that isn't character based. I like blowing things up with big spells.

In FFXI my main job was a Healer which then turned into SMN witch I loved. So when it comes to FF 14 I thought I would go as SMN. Since it wasn't in the beta. And I was really let down I hated how SMN was a really bad version of warlock from WOW. I hated the design of the summons they look so cheap. So I then tried being a MNK since Tifa is my fav in FF7. I noticed that I really liked being a Damage dealer. Being in the front lines near the tank. But then I tried PLD and I love it to bits I just need to practise more. Your always busy always on the ball. With the other jobs I would full a sleep in the dungeons cause I would get bored.
