What decided your main job class?

Sorta odd, but what inspired me to pick up MCH was this....



Once I hit 50+, really started to enjoy the change in pace, perspective it offered having did MNK for all of ARR. Also... Big Wild Fires <drool>

BRD was really good in first coil so I played it and liked it. Once HW came around I didn't like that it became a bow mage. I learned to play it but I do miss moving around freely. Same with BLM, once HW added more changes in a different way I found myself not liking it anymore. I think DRGs got better with HW & WHMs.

I.....have had a few mains over time o.o;

I started out as MNK, way back when the game was released out of beta as a full fledged game.
However, when I joined up with two other friends, all three of us were dps - and couldn't go into dungeons together. So two of us ended up having to switch to tank and healer.
I opted for CNJ/WHM and it just... sorta stuck that way.

Then, I ended up with a rather weird injury to my ring finger in my left hand (avulsion fracture - I tore the ligament right off my own joint...) which made it difficult to move around (being on PC) - which meant re-training my hand to play AWSD (ring=A, middle=W/S, pointer=D; thumb=Spacebar/jump, ring=tab) to be (middle=A, pointer=W/S, thumb=D, thumb=Spacebar, middle=tab.... and weird combos of fingers to strafe) and a lot of mouse clicking monsters and skills on my hotbar. It was just too difficult to react fast enough to healing and moving -
so I switched to BRD.... and mained that for several months until the splint was taken off and my finger learned to bend again.
Went back to maining WHM...

Now I main AST o_Oa (funny, considering I really disliked it, for a while)

Back in the beta I chose Pugilist, I liked the idea of punching things, but then I wanted that Red Mage feel, so I picked up Thamaturge, got some levels into that then picked up Gladiator and cross classed what spells i was able too. Granted not the same thing but I was close to what my dream job would be. Then the game released and I sat there really thinking "what do i want to be and what do i want to finish as?" I remember seeing carbuncle around in the beta and I was "Hey I want a carby." So picked up Astro, leved it up, realized I could be a Summoner and boom, my first real job. I dabble in MNK and DRK now because they are fun but SMN shall be with me forever. Till Red Mage comes out xD

I started in Beta as archer and after game was openly available picked up arcanist once I got to Limsa because I wanted that PET D:
I leveled as SMN/BRD simultaneously to 50 and sorta coleveled MNK as well (was 49 when finished 2.0 story). My FC at that point needed a healer for AK and WP speedruns... so I got to try my hand on healing as SCH which I had only used on FATEs before...
I got stuck on SCH even when I for statics sometimes switched to WAR, WHM or PLD. SCH is my main from the heart.

Who doesn't like playing with two daggers at once?

If it looks agile and evasive, there's a good chance it'll end up becoming my main. In 1.0, the closest thing was the pugilist class, then rogue and ninja came along. Dual Wield is always a nice thing as well and if there's magic in the mix as well - perfect!

Archer and then bard. I always go with ranged in RPGs - I just like bows. And when I saw the job outfit I was like... I like it.

Even wanderer's minuet didn't make me dislike it. Being a bit of a poet and someone that likes to help his friends and such the story resonated with me as well(been leveling an alt and got reminded of things in the story).

Immediately, when I heard that there was an archer class, I picked it because I just love the bow and arrow as a weapon. The funny thing is that I didn't know what a bard was until I played FFXIV lol I love the job because I assist the healers on keeping the party alive by making sure that their magic doesn't go dry. Although, keeping check on the deeps is a bit tedious, it pushes me to work harder to be one of the best BRDS in Eorzea. ^^

BRD - I played Hunter in WoW and WHM in FFXI. After years and years of endgame as a healer in XI; I wanted a change. I really liked ranged DPS from WoW so that transferred over to FFXIV. My husband chose BLM so I didn't want to double up with him. I've always wanted to learn how to use a bow and arrow irl so I gravitated towards BRD.

I have an AST as a secondary job, I can't seem to stay away from a healing class, I'm constantly drawn to it and didn't want to do WHM so when AST was presented, I gave it a go.

At launched I went straight for MNK because I always end up playing the MNK type. Once I hit fifty though I jumped straight into MRD/WAR because I love to tank. From 2.1 till 3.0 it was love, and I didn't play anything else until I felt I needed a PLD because I was having trouble solo tanking the EX trials for Kirin.

Since 3.0 I've "mained" DRK and have it's relic at hyper conductive, but... with WAR at 59 right now its looking like I'm about to go back to my true love. It hits like a truck, it mitigates fantastically, buff's itself, and heals itself as well. I've also grown to love PLD a lot more at 60, but it looks like DRK is about to take a back seat the rest of the expansion.

However if 4.0 we go to Ala Mhingo I'm totally using monk for the main story.
