Hello, I was wondering why SE is putting shields to the bows, while I understand the need of making the relic weapons more special and cool looking, a shield attached to the bow seems a bit weird and probably would make it harder to wield the weapon properly and swiftly, as seen in the Bard animations, the shield kinda looks odd in my opinion.

Normally bows and shield combos are simply a normal bow and a shield or protection sleeve attached to the arm holding the bow, not necessarily a shield on the inside to protect the body, or throw off the balance on the weapon, if anything, have the shield being centered on the bow arc.

Either way, I only hope this is not the new guidelines for future relics, we moved from harp style bows to shield bows. I wish we could stay on just bows with not a lot of extra features, maybe had a gauntlet to the left arm, or a shoulder pad that covers the upper arm as well? that would be cool I think.

The shield is there for when you pull aggro of the tank XD

Most aiming gear has usually a shoulder guard - adding this to the weapon would most likely clash with 99% of the gear.

The way I look at the shield is - it avoids getting hit in the hands while aiming.

Though I think most of the protection sleeves are there to avoid injury from the bow string and not really from getting hit.

True about the shoulder guard, but a sleeve would work, after all, Sephirot monk fists are a pair of metal gloves and it just overrides whatever is on the gloves spot.

But to be honest, I only hope they don't add shields to any more bows, it simply looks weird in my opinion, if there is a shield I demand a block rate added to it as well! :P

Only thing I ever saw wrong with the shield was that it is literally on the wrong side of the bow. It should technically be blocking incoming shots, but its not even trying to cover your character in any fashion.

It looks pretty neat. I'm glad we got something different again. Yoichi bow was kind of boring and Gandiva is not something I like but artemis bow was pretty neat and so is this one.
