Lolololol I was waiting to see when this advice would come up. Taking a break, jeezus its like you guys don't even want players to stay. People are complaining for a reason, telling them to go away isn't gonna help. The lack of content isn't one of this games glaring problems. There's tons of content and yes, it can be a bit monotonous but all games get to be that way after you've played them for a while. If you're super bored and don't find the game fun anymore than taking a break is the best thing you can do.
Honestly, the formula for content is fine and the devs ARE trying new things. So do whatever makes you happy, but don't come on the forums spewing negativity just for the sake of negativity.
And yet all they ever seem to do is say "change the game!", circle jerk argue why the game should be changed, and never even try keeping suggestion threads alive to throw out suggestions of what they want to see. Other then that they get obviously impatient that just because they demand change NOW the next day is not a patch to change the game to how they want it changed. Content does not just design itself in an instant.
So the only thing we can do is... tell them to take a break. They clearly ran out of content they want to do, they clearly do not want to throw out suggestions for alternate methods of doing the content they like to do, so there is nothing to discuss really.
This isn't true in the least. And yet all they ever seem to do is say "change the game!", circle jerk argue why the game should be changed, and never even try keeping suggestion threads alive to throw out suggestions of what they want to see. There is a 55 page thread on the front page currently discussing this with many suggestions posted throughout. I would know as I've even posted suggestions in it myself.
Even if that weren't the case telling players to "make suggestions or take a break" doesn't help anything either. Part of the reason players pay a subscription for the game is because they enjoy certain types of content the game has to offer, this does not mean that they are happy with all of it however and they are welcome to voice otherwise.
If you go to a restaurant do you need to be Gordon Ramsay to know that your steak is undercooked? And if it is, does the chef come out of the kitchen and say that if you don't enjoy it that you should go back there and grill it yourself?
No, this does not happen.
Players are not game developers, but even without an intricate knowledge of game design they are still able to voice their opinions on the current content in the game, opinions that are worth more than those who unsubscribe and say nothing because it means they are still invested in what the game has to offer and are hoping for change.
Instead of trying to silence complaints perhaps threads like this and the game in general are better served by others opening up more avenues for discussion and trying to get to the bottom of what part of the game's systems are actually making them unhappy before they leave with their subs that will no longer support the game many of you still enjoy.

I will be honest and say: I did not read all 55 pages. I also know that on recommendation in that very thread to post my idea in a new thread that the thread I posted proceeded to straight up die.
I will also say this: Just mindlessly saying "change the game!" does not help at all. It is like going into a restaurant, discovering your steak is undercooked, and telling the chef to change the steak and when they ask "in what way?" you just respond with "Just change the steak!"
Throwing out suggestions is more helpful because at least it gives the devs an insight into what it is you're looking for. Like telling the chef to cook the steak more thoroughly it's too rare.
Well in that case lets look at the thread starter:I will also say this: Just mindlessly saying "change the game!" does not help at all. All these seem like pretty clear starting points, all in the first post of this thread.

And sitting there pouting about how big bad SE isn't giving the widdle babies everything they want, even if they never actually make suggestions as to what that would be, isn't gonna help either.
If you're burnt out then yes, taking a break IS good advice. I never said to delete your characters, burn your house to the ground and forget FFXIV exists. Taking a break doesn't mean you leave forever. If you're not having fun PLAYING a video game then you should probably not be playing it. Why turn something that is supposed to be a hobby into a chore?
I'm not crying. I am simply stating that the game is getting stale and that they never actually released an expansion. Just a really big patch. And I'll spew all the negativity I want you little sanctimonious brat. And sitting there pouting about how big bad SE isn't giving the widdle babies everything they want, even if they never actually make suggestions as to what that would be, isn't gonna help either.
