"Mario still jumps. Sonic stills runs. Zelda has to save the princess. This game is bad because it's this game."
If you don't like the game, don't play it. It's as simple as that. It is what it is. Many people, including myself, like the way it is.
I'm really getting tired of these substance-less threads.
"It's bad. Change it!"
To what?
"That's not my job. Just fix it until I like it."
How would I explain the current patch formula?
Consistency. One that they have also used to refine the game content while still throwing in stuff that are a potential flop risk without risking the entire stability of the game.
What, would you have liked the latest patch to utterly change the game's core systems and invalidate months/years worth of work and content development? Invalidate all current gear progression and force you to start over from earning initial newbie gear so you can eventually regear your character for its actual level? Throw in a system for beyond current max level leveling that breaks the balance of the game so horribly that the only reason you would play is to farm for EXP to invalidate more content? How about the removal of 2/3rd of the content in the game AND reworking the story wasting the millions of dollars and the months/years of work put into it?
In case you do not know, I am describing what recently happened to another themepark MMO called Firefall. Though it was turned into a Themepark MMO away from what it originally was because the investors wanted a WoW clone and had to dispose the guy who started the entire thing before they could truly get to work on what they wanted to do.
Considering the amount of new people I see in game, asking questions here and on reddit, and the forum whiners threatening to leave but never do, I'd say the player base is growing nicely.
Well this could be attributed to many things, maybe people are self-concious of the leaf and learn to switch it off, i know i did. Maybe it's the server you are on, considering all the servers are in one place, when new player sogn up they're are probably choosing the first server they see which would probably be the ones queued with lowest population.
However all of this is just mindless speculation no more evidence than anecdotes.
I've seen several people say their goodbyes in Novice Chat of Odin as they get closer to being unable to participate in it anymore. I've explained to people the stages of being recruited as a friend and seen people ask when they can use their cool Coeurl mount. I recognize sprouts with questions that have been in the chat longer than two weeks. There are definitely new non-trial players out there on our server.

So what, pray tell, should change? I always find these "I'm bored and leaving because the game is stale!" threads pointless. Offer a suggestion or something, otherwise your criticism isn't constructive, and therefore, equally pointless.
The problem is that you care too much about items. This is not Farmville where your meta is to get as much items as possible.
This is an online RPG where you enjoy the story, the world, the optional quests with their small stories, minigames, community etc...
