Content does not just design itself in an instant.

So the only thing we can do is... tell them to take a break. They clearly ran out of content they want to do, they clearly do not want to throw out suggestions for alternate methods of doing the content they like to do, so there is nothing to discuss really.
This isn't true in the least.

There is a 55 page thread on the front page currently discussing this with many suggestions posted throughout. I would know as I've even posted suggestions in it myself.

Even if that weren't the case telling players to "make suggestions or take a break" doesn't help anything either. Part of the reason players pay a subscription for the game is because they enjoy certain types of content the game has to offer, this does not mean that they are happy with all of it however and they are welcome to voice otherwise.

If you go to a restaurant do you need to be Gordon Ramsay to know that your steak is undercooked? And if it is, does the chef come out of the kitchen and say that if you don't enjoy it that you should go back there and grill it yourself?

    No, this does not happen.

Players are not game developers, but even without an intricate knowledge of game design they are still able to voice their opinions on the current content in the game, opinions that are worth more than those who unsubscribe and say nothing because it means they are still invested in what the game has to offer and are hoping for change.

Instead of trying to silence complaints perhaps threads like this and the game in general are better served by others opening up more avenues for discussion and trying to get to the bottom of what part of the game's systems are actually making them unhappy before they leave with their subs that will no longer support the game many of you still enjoy.

I will also say this: Just mindlessly saying "change the game!" does not help at all. It is like going into a restaurant, discovering your steak is undercooked, and telling the chef to change the steak and when they ask "in what way?" you just respond with "Just change the steak!"

Throwing out suggestions is more helpful because at least it gives the devs an insight into what it is you're looking for. Like telling the chef to cook the steak more thoroughly it's too rare.

And sitting there pouting about how big bad SE isn't giving the widdle babies everything they want, even if they never actually make suggestions as to what that would be, isn't gonna help either.

If you're burnt out then yes, taking a break IS good advice. I never said to delete your characters, burn your house to the ground and forget FFXIV exists. Taking a break doesn't mean you leave forever. If you're not having fun PLAYING a video game then you should probably not be playing it. Why turn something that is supposed to be a hobby into a chore?

I'm not crying. I am simply stating that the game is getting stale and that they never actually released an expansion. Just a really big patch. And I'll spew all the negativity I want you little sanctimonious brat.

The door is always there for you to exit?
Obviously if you are still playing you must like some aspect of the game

Correction, my subscription is still active, I am not. I have a door stopper at the door, just waiting to see if anything interesting actually happens. Maybe deep dungeon will be what I need. Probably not though.

I doubt we'll ever see any drastic changes to the formula. SE won't want to risk a huge overhaul after their smaller experiments like Verminion and Diadem didn't take off.
Most likely we will continue to see periodic additions of new content alongside the basics.

I don't mind it myself since I enjoy the staple elements like dungeons, beast tribes, story quests, ect. I do hope that future experiments like Deep Dungeon are successful as more content is always welcome.

Changing the layout of dungeons past the "3 groups of mobs and a boss, repeat three times" shouldn't be rocket science. and if this is the content they want us to run 90 times before the next patch, perhaps adding some changing elements to it wouldn't kill the game.

If a rep actually came in on hot topics to say a thing or two, it would actually give incentive to make more susggestions. I don'the expect them to come into every topic, but when one topic voices numerous people unsubbing, you might want to say something to give them a LITTLE hope to stick around instead of plugging your ears.

The fact that none of the mods in the community openly speak with players in open discussions about the game itself only proves how disjointed they are. It will either be "we are doing this or that" or a niche "nice suggestion we will forward to our bosses and may consider it."

Of course maybe it's a matter of there is nothing left to say to people who feel there isn't much of a game to play.

Edit: At least when I go to a Mcdonalds a burger tastes like a burger and I'll always be rewarded with calories and nutrients to sustain my insignificant life. Which is more then XIV will ever have to offer.
