What happens when ver 2.0 comes around and everyone who was used to paying reduced subs each month are then asked to pay twice as much?
Having people placated by reduced subs now will only serve to create a new problem down the road.

As many have said, you let players know in advance so that they KNOW about the full price down the road when 2.0 comes out. You get a reduced price now as the game is in production since it's not fully complete while being aware that once the game is finished, they will rightly get their full price. And as I have said, a slowly increasing price towards their target price would help to slowly ease the population into paying full price.
It's not like they're going to charge half price now, not tell anyone about 2.0's price structure, and suddenly double the price when 2.0 hits. That's absolutely foolish.

Wow, if the cut they price in half, that means I can pay the subscription twice so I can still post on the forums with this ALT.
So you are gifthorse?
On topic though - it's best to spell it out in bold on the service page that it is a "discounted" price and that it would return to full price with 2.0's implementation...
I'd gladly do 7$ a month until 2.0.
No questions asked.
I know they need money and that is perfectly reasonable. But if they at least offer this discount, my respect will skyrocket. Its all about sacrifice for us.
It's the principle of keeping the promises that matters not the one euro discounts. If the price is considerably lowered I will pay. If it's near full XI price then that's not a reasonable mindset. Also the 1.20 will matter because if it's big enough the price won't seem so unrealistic. But if it's as unsignifigant as the previous 3 "big" patches then I'll wait until next fall.
This is ideal. Thumbs up.I support this. Hell, have us pay $1 for each patch implementation until 2013...
1.20: $7 a month
1.21: $8 a month
1.22: $9 a month
1.23: $10 a month (This is where we get a good deal of new content, like the Imperial Legatus boss battles)
1.24 and beyond: $11+
This is perfectly reasonable. :3

I'm willing to pay the full price to support them. But i see the importance of a fair price to appeal to more people and keep them on.
I assume something around $8 is fair
