Dragoon Poll (Should DRG have a Wyvern?)

Cause before the "You may get balanced and become weaker" there was a huge thread about this where almost everyone was wanting details on this an seemed all for a pet. Once it was stated that if we got a wyvern it would cause them to balance our job the anti-wyvern coalition formed and turned on us. ; ;

I guess they don't understand the word balance then. You can't expect to hit the same dmg on your weapon and in addition hit extra points with your wyvern, your dmg has to be balanced on both dmg outputs, in the end the dmg from the lnc + wyvern might equal the dmg from a non wyvern dragoon.

Well most who took part in this thread as anti wyvern were open to the idea and didn't mind us getting pets. Now that balancing and weak were used in the same sentence regarding this subject they hopped the fence to the dark side. :P

Also later in the thread everyone decided instead of debating it we'd spam the question so it gets asked int the live letter which it did.

ehhh I dont see a lot of pro wyvern posts in that thread and the ones you do see are mostly by the same handful of people even the pro FFXI wyvern folks dont seem to want one in FXIV.

you guys do realize that 1) there are other regions and 2) the JP have the most pull on any subject right?

just because people here are one way or the other , it might be the complete opposite in all other regions.

I want to go ahead and say that base on the FFXIV Lore and nature of the game we do not need a Wyvern as a pet.


HOWEVER! I do wish that the Storyline for DRGs in FFIXV will have some nature of dragons in them in switch we somehow gain there powers. I will then accept that we are warriors with Dragon like powers/abilities and move on in the world of Eorzea. But deep in my heart I do wish that we did somehow have a dragon/wyvern pet in some shape or form in the future. I still have my Vote as wanting to have Wyverns in the game but in truth of Lore I will accept that we do not need them.

I would prefer NOT to get a Wyvern honestly. I think the class lorewise is being portrayed as ones who fight and slay dragons, not befriend them. I know I'll have a lot of XI fans angry at me but for that I have to remind you, whenever your pet died, remember how much your damage output dropped? Unless they address that issue to where the pet has GOOD survivability and the combined damage is worth the effort for it then I'll accept it.

Economically speaking, the Japanese don't have enough pull on these subjects because quite simply, the majority of the FFXIV users right now are non-Japanese. Let's see...Japanese Island Nation? Check.

Australia? Europe? Britain? North America? South America? Greece?

Check, Check, Check, Check, Check, and friggin' Check.

The only case where Japanese players would have "more" pull than non-Japanese is simply because of their culture and human tendency to place greater weight to native-speakers than non-native speakers.

I'm sure Yoichi Wada and Naoki Yoshida are not so stupid as to alienate such a large revenue source.

I love DRG in all FF lore, with or without Wyverns, but if I had to choose I'd prefer to have a Wyvern ^_^ I think if Yoshi-P could swing it so that each player had the option as a DRG to either be a stronger solo DD or a bada$$ Pet Class then everyone would be happy...but I do have to say, if they implement a Wyvern and you're sooooooooo against it, then just continue playing as a LNC...I think having a Wyvern will not only set DRG apart from other DDs, but it will also fulfill the desire for a pet class in FFXIV...also, if they do implement a Wyvern, I hope it is slightly more customizable than they were in FFXI (at least different colorations, maybe based on the Wyverns elemental alignment)...either way, I'm truly excited to see DRG make the cut in the first line of true FF based jobs and I really look forward to seeing what Yoshi-P has in store for us -_^

Yes, DRG with Wyvern pet. You must have mistaken someone else's post for mine though, because I haven't been whining at all. :3 Ah, and I've already stated a solution to this, the wyvern can be optional, and share damage if you choose to quest for it and use it, but you could stay strong like before without it. With wyvern perhaps it can use breath attacks and such, without it, perhaps the DRG itself can. This is the only way I can think of for everyone to be happy. I don't know if I'd even call it compromise, because neither side would have to have less. Everyone gets what they want.

That's interesting but, Yoshida-san was asking if we'd like a wyvern as a pet for DRG again, and if we do he'd look into it. So I wouldn't be so sure until he says it won't happen.

Bravo, if more people chose to "discuss" the topic instead of just bashing each other then maybe we could all come to an agreement...besides, who do you think Yoshi-P would prefer to cater to, those who are constantly aggro or those who are level headed and are able to take others opinions into consideration?!?!
