IThe wyvern was the coolest thing about dragoon to me. I think that you should be able to summon it if you want.

Trying to make everybody happy is always a recipe for failure. Giving everybody what they want cannot be beneficial for FFXIV's long-term survival. Mostly because it is simply not feasible. We have to assume the people making this game at least have half a mind better than we do about what makes an MMO work. Because it is an MMORPG, it needs to work for everybody universally, not everybody individually. And that can't happen giving everybody the option X, Y, and Z in every instance. At least not while preserving the foundational rules of the game. Unless they want to turn this into Final Fantasy Tycoon. In which case... **** it.
It's what they seem to be doing with the rest of the game. Yoshida keeps trying to make everyone happy. May as well try for this too. If it doesn't work out, then leave it as it is.Trying to make everybody happy is always a recipe for failure. Giving everybody what they want cannot be beneficial for FFXIV's long-term survival. My friend and I were discussing something about Dragoon, Dragons, and the perceived Playable-Draconian race that Yoshi-P hinted at previously.
Let's say they release even a half-dragon race, how are they going to reconcile that with any kind of Dragoon unless it takes up a cavalry job completely unrelated to any discussion of dragons? If I were a Draconian, I'd have no use for a dragon companion, and I'd not want to be a dragon killer either.
the whole dragon race thing is plain old bizzare to me. It doesnt even seem to fit with the FF style, almost like hes doing it because other games have weird creature like races. If he said we have a troll or ogre race coming next.....i wouldnt be surprised. My friend and I were discussing something about Dragoon, Dragons, and the perceived Playable-Draconian race that Yoshi-P hinted at previously.

While plausible, how many MMORPGs, or even single-player RPGs, have you actually been able to play a dragon race even a half-dragon race? Not many, that's for sure.
Actually, I've always consider Roegalkyn to be the FFO-version of D&D's ogre/troll races and the Lalatarufell to be FFO's version of Dwarfs/whatever.
if SE wanted to use a dwarf they could have just recycled ones from their own series. i have not seen any lala-fell saying "rally ho" but i will keep an eye out for them. as for dragon race looking out of place it wouldn't be the first weird looking race in FF. theres kilmari of the ronso's. fraya and her kind a race of anthropomorphic rats. fran of the viera. that is just a few weird races off the top of my head i'm sure i could think of more given enough timeWhile plausible, how many MMORPGs, or even single-player RPGs, have you actually been able to play a dragon race even a half-dragon race? What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
That's all just speculations at this point, if that race ever becomes playable we still don't know it's characteristics. At this point I find that announcement to be bizarre, cloudy and still mid-air.Let's say they release even a half-dragon race, how are they going to reconcile that with any kind of Dragoon unless it takes up a cavalry job completely unrelated to any discussion of dragons? Who says that a half dragon kind of race doesn't have any benefits from a wyvern? That's nonsense.
Just want to show everyone the picture here. Now Look at the Dragoon(Kain Highwind) Look at the Dragoon again. I don't see a wyvern around him. He certainly looks kickass, and anyone can tell that is a Dragoon. Even his title reads "Dragonslayer"
