Did not read anything.. just voicing my opinion. Drg was weak because of the wyvern since the thing was never alive in end game. If they can't do pet classes right, then don't do them at all.

I LIKED the idea of a dragon assisting a dragoon. But it never really made sense. I am for no pet and would love DRG to be a wonderfully balanced class that can kick(in this case poke) some booty!
For a good compromise how about some sort of pet that doesn't auto attack but merely looks cool when you do a WS or something. Or just have the dragon appear out of no where from the sky and breath fire on the enemy for a special attack
Over all dragon support I believe would be nice, but not in the form of a pet who splits my damage output and can die right away. And a dragon mount sounds cool.

I would prefer you give LNCs a wyvern but not as a pet that fights alongside you and you'll end up with the need to nerf LNC, but as a pet you can ride and possibly fight on.
Having Dragoon as my Fav FFXI job and loving the Wyvern and all didn't mean squat when it came to facts about the job and the effects, having the wyvern caused DRG to be weaker then other melee classes. No one wants a half assed job around and the wyvern made Dragoon half assed to say the least sure it could solo well given the best possible gear so forth but in an end game aspect and pretty much most areas Dragoon was looked at with a blind eye and deemed useless to the majority. I mained as dragoon for quite a long time and only because I found the job personally enjoyable, unfortunately the fact that it was continuously disheartening being the job no one wants around I had to eventually give it up and become a Red mage or I would never get any gear. WAYVERN NO THANKS! Dragoon isn't supposed to be a weak Job, look at FF3 Drg is nuts and Kain is over kill in FF4, do they have Wyverns..???? OF COURSE THEY DON'T! Why? Because they don't need a stupid dragon to help them there awesome without it. FFXIV Drg with wyvern = pansy DRG With awesome power and no stupid dragon = OVER KILL! I repeat Wyvern THANKS FOR THE OFFER BUT I'LL HAVE TO PASS!

Wrong. Lancer is another common name for Dragoon. The name Dragoon is derived from history itself of other Militaristic countries most used firearms but some were horseback lance wielding infantry. In Final Fantasy the only Dragoon class that ever even had a pet was FFXI all the others were iconic dragon armored lancers. Sometime referred to as such either Dragon Knights or Lancers or Dragoons. To me personally the one that really didn't hold up as well as the others was FFXI because they were gimped because they had a pet. Instead of being the incredibly strong solo knight you had to depend on your silly pet for survivability.

Well they were not?!!!
why were they gimped?! you are one of those seeing only the weapon dmg of the dragoon arent you? not taking into account, that the wyvern did about 30-40% extra dmg? eh?
well and you really think that the wyvern in FF14 from today would have a 20 min recast timer? i dont think at all.
and maybe the drg would receive heal reggen skills for their wyvern? a 5min recast?
etc etc.. a wyvern sacrifice abillity which gives him back of about 50% LP instantly and receive the strenght of the pet for a while? who knows what a drg + wyvern pet from today could offer??
well for me it was a companion ;D

That is incorrect... See below:
It is proven that not only did Dragoons have a relation to Dragons it was also common-place for them to fight alongside Wyverns. The most referenced Dragoon Kain Highwind is the son of one of the FIRST Dragoons in the franchise and he fought alongside a Wyvern.Google Facts
Final Fantasy II
In their first appearance, Dragoons are not a Job but a group of spear-wielding dragon riders who fought alongside wyverns. The Emperor killed off most of the group out of fear, leaving only Ricard Highwind and his adopted son, Kain.
While it is true when you took control of the characters they did not have one present does not mean they never had them.
