Tank Gear Design Contest Discussion Thread?

I have a lot of questions about how to do my design.

Is there going to be a discussion thread for the contest? Or is there not going to be? :O I just was hoping to see some examples of what sort of things SE is expecting from the submissions.

I want to make sure my submission has the best chances of being chosen and I don't want it to be cast aside because of too little information .

SE has never made a discussion thread concerning events. You just read the contest rule and hope you made something that they will like. It will most likely follow the same structure of the hairstyle contest back in 2015, where they pick the armor they like and then let the players vote on it.

I think, when making your design, keep in mind that it should be doable... not super duper detailed, and not jetting out so much that it will clip with other gear. (They might still give you an honorable mention if it looks great, but I think the grand prize is going to require a lot of practicality... especially since they said they will make the grand prize winner's submission into actual gear.)

Since you will have to plan out each piece, I think I will sketch a front/back of the full set, then show individual pieces for arms, legs, etc. That is if I do it... I'm a pretty lazy person. :P

I understand you have a few questions regarding the Gear Design Contest (Tank Edition). While we have no plans to create an official discussion thread at this time, you are more than welcome to ask any questions you may have here!

Here are a couple questions we've received that have been addressed so far:

Q: Would you like us to present both the front and back of the armor, similar to the designs shown in this previous dev blog?



A: Yes, we would appreciate if you can submit entries which we can confirm the front/back like this one!

Q: While I'm sure the gear will be unisex, can we add notes for any variations in the design for males and females?

A: You certainly may add notes! If you would like to have some small changes to the design depending on gender/race, you're more than welcome to add those notes in the entry.

The dev. team is looking at your ideas, so don't limit yourself with worry over the illustration quality. If you have an awesome idea, be sure to submit it!

I can only hope voting isn't as cumbersome as it was during the hairstyle contest where only the last vote counted.

Can i attach pictures, which ones describe each part of armor set separately and also show changes in male/female version? Or entry is strictly limited by 1-2 pics?

It says on the rules it is 1-2 images. That is pretty set in stone.
