And this is exactly right. SE has incredibly low tolerance for dropped packets. I had incredible improvement in connectivity by returning my TCP packets on an OS level. But this is something SE could and should have handled in their server/client communication. Most MMOs do and have a much higher tolerance for dropped packets.

I'll have to try your fixes. I've lost 3 ironworks synths (pants/shoes/offhand), a lumi fiber synth, and a handful of eikon material synths since 3.3 came out. More annoying than the gil value lost is the time lost on a recipe that takes ten 2-star and 3-star synths to make the materials.

They could fix this, by having the game save the exact state of your craft with each step. You log out or disconnect, you come back to the exact state you were in (maybe minus food buffs if gone long enough, and with appropriate FC buffs). SE does not want to have to do this for some reason though.

Too many people say "get proper internet" when reality is the servers are in Canada and there are some L3 servers between the US and Canada which drop packets, and FFXIV is intolerant of dropping packets. That scenario is WAY more complicated than "get better internet"

These complicated internet issues are why so many people get the occasional disconnection or even experience sudden mass server drop offs.

Perfect internet from A to B can fix the problem. But perfect 0 latency internet is a myth. All internet has range of quality. And most ISPs are acceptable to great. The problem is FFXIV isn't acceptable of "good" internet. Their protocol expects great to near perfect protocol. Hense some folks suffer </3

Again they really need to take a look at the client <-> server communication and make it slightly more compatible with dropped packets. Its not like the current design is blocking teleport bots anyway... looool

All those people saying a fix would be abused, would you please get on your knees and bang your head on the ground three times. After each time your head rises from the floor, repeat this truth: "I don't think before I speak."

If the "fix" was to simply return all mats when you disconnect, then yes, that would be abused.

If the "fix" was to save the state of the crafting at every step, then no, it would be impossible to abuse.

It really depends upon what sort of fix, if any, that they decide to implement.

No, thank you. Please apply to yourself. It's good to question the "fixes" that get suggested. It's better to see the abuse before it's put it, than after. We can then begin to build on those suggestions to come up with better ideas.

As I've proposed before reclaim should be made core to all classes, and in the event of disconnection the server should attempt a reclaim if you have enough CP. If you don't have enough CP then the server should attempt progress completion of the craft using CS2/CS1/StandardSynth.

This would be much easier to implement than a state save (which dev has stated they have zero interest in) and would recover 90%+ of the disconnected crafts. This would be a relatively acceptable solution. This solution couldn't be abused either since the server is doing actions the player could do themselves if they weren't disconnected.

During 2.0 days I forced a DC just to see what would happen if I would get my mats back. I wasn't close to getting a HQ item so what better time to try it out. It didn't work, but if it did work what would stop me from abusing it?

Also used to get bad DC for a while found out it was a problem on my side(one of my fan card was getting hot so I removed it and just used my liquid cooled cards). I fixed it and never had a DC problem ever again.
