    Disconnect While Crafting

Can we Please just get something to fix the loss on disconnect when crafting. With How "temperamental" connections to this games servers can be for people who have great internet connections. Endgame crafting is not Cheap. Even with 100s of million in gil, almost a million or more loss in mats per disconnect at no fault of your own is very annoying. I'm not talking a reclaim system for when you disconnect. But some sort of "Pause" so people can't abuses it for mats when they mess up a synth.

I think this can be abused. How are they going to diferentiate who disconnects legit from who unplugs the router because they dont want to finish a 67% HQ craft?

this will never happen because it will open space for cheating!

because everyone who will so fail at a craft, will just plug out internet before it end.

    SO JUST GET PROPER INTERNET!!!

SE cant do anything about your internet provider connection!

I agree this is frustrating, and i wish they could fix it. I dont think they can/will.

And if a crash/disco just snapshotted and "paused" the crafting, and you reconnected to the same step with the same buffs same counters same cp and same material condition how could people use it to cheat? I mean maybe its possible and im not creative enough to see it, but if it was literally just "paused" until you got back and it then "unpaused" for you to continue then that seems like itd be cheat-proof.

There's nothing wrong with my internet, my connection is just fine except for the FFXIV. SE can do plenty about the issue, programming how a bad packet is dealt with for example. A hiccup in the internet's tubes doesn't have to cause the game to be unresponsive for 20 seconds then boot you, especially when you're the only person in an instanced zone.

I could agree with it being a nice addition so long as it's only pausing the craft where it was rather than being a 100% reclaim. I haven't had any issues myself with it but I too would hate to lose high end crafting materials if the power went out or I dc'd.

I do believe we need some sort of a grace period after we DC. Give us several minutes, at the last, to log back in. All they'd have to do is place us where we were so it wouldn't be subject to cheating.

I've posted on this multiple times with solutions which would not have been exploitable. I've had some rough losses myself and have probably lost more over time than most (since I had notable disconnection problems). The best I can do is recommend to check out Mithrie's guide on disconnections. Below is what I wrote up for my FC members recently if anyone else finds it useful.

    ---

Hi Everyone. We all get disconnected from FFXIV sometimes. But some of us get kicked more than others. This guide applies to people who get disconnected anywhere from a few times a day to a few times a week. Most specifically when you get disconnected and your web browser is still working (and your internet is fine)

I spent quite a bit of time debugging the problem last year monitoring and logging my own disconnections, and what I found is there is an L3 problem between Canada and northern North Carolina. With this said, L3 problems can and will affect multiple people. In this case the crux of the issue is that the L3 in that area drops some packets every once in a while, not many but just a few for a second here or there.

The problem is games like FFXIV tolerate VERY VERY few missing packets or pauses in the network communication. The fix is to tell your operating system to send out smaller packets. Leatrix Latency Fix and the TcpAckFrequency registery changes are the best at doing this. I've linked some videos and instructions below for these changes. I applied both of these to my system roughly a year ago and had an immediate drop of 95% of my disconnections. I virtually never get disconnected any more. Let me know if you have any questions!
