Why in Eorzea would a gender change be any more "shocking" than a race change? Maybe I'm the odd one out here, but I'd say that any Lalafell turning into a Roegadyn would be no less "shocking" than a female Miq'ote turning into a female Roegadyn. And while we're at it, no, I do not think it would be "understandable" for a Roegadyn male to suddenly become a pretty boy with cat ears and a tail that was 1/3 his former size.

I say just let everyone remake their characters -- race, gender, customization, name, and bday/guardian -- when 2.0 hits. Yes, it will be strange and maybe a little chaotic to have a bunch of characters changing race and gender and hairstyle and name OH NO! But we can deal with it. Just this once, please let us have this.

I don't believe we should be able to change our starting city though, or companies (unless there is a drastic change in lore).

Just wanted to clarify just a tiny bit: The comment from Yoshida during the LIVE video was mainly geared toward being able to change gender, specifically. Not so much about being able to change race. He was talking about changing from a Roegadyn male to a Miqo'te male being relatively understandable ("hey you lost weight!") but that it might be shocking to go from Roegadyn male to a Lalafell female.

It was vague in our Twitter post about it, so I'm hoping to dispel the misinformation now.

When this game launched I decided I was going to play a female Avatar. I hate the way Elves look in this game, I did not want to look like a 5 year old girl (Lalas) and I didn't want to join the Manthra army. That left Human as the only option. Had I been given the option of Roeg female or Highlander female I would have chosen one of them hands down, mainly because I have played a million and a half human characters in mmos.

When New Race/Gender Combos come I am not saying I will outright quit. But if I am not given at least a once time Race & Gender change I will at least be contemplating on whether or not I want to continue to spend time here when you don't give those of your players who played the game through the flop launch the same options as new players who didn't spend time, playing what was essentially a 1 year beta extension.

I do not think its asking too much for those loyal players to be given a ONE TIME race/gender swap.

Change your character's birthday or patron god.
Recreate your character from the select screen.
Recreate your character from the select screen as a new race or gender.

On these, yes.

Change your character's starting city.

OK the other part is about renaming the charter, the name being bit too long is a problem for UI; if we are going to make it where players can rename we may adjust the amount/length you can enter. But for naming, it’s registered in different parts so it’s not that easy to say yes right here; it depends on how much the demand is and if its possible technical wise; for this one please give us more time.

I don't see how it would be shocking to anyone seeing someone else play a different race or gender. We're all aware that its possibly going to happen so you're already perpared of seeing changes. I dont see what the big deal is. I'm always focused on looking my character anyway.

I agree 100%, it just wont be fair. i dont know why its such an issue about switching over night. Its no different than deleting your old Elezen named pie crust, and making a new Male Miqote named pie crust. The only difference is you dont have to do all the questing again.

Players wanted Male Miqote since the begining of XI, and SE will outrage all those players thats been waiting for years if they dont allow them to switch. it would be the biggest tease and smack to the face.
