Diadem-only materials

I recently got into gathering and will have a BTN leveled soon-ish. But it looks to me as though several mats used for Max-pots and the like are only found in the Diadem, which of course nobody in their right mind would voluntarily bother with these days. Or are there still plenty of gathering expeditions taking place, in your opinion? Or are there any other means of obtaining these mats?

Did they give instant flying? If so I will be going into Diadem again, the most annoying part was having to get flying so you could get to the different islands to get stuff but if they changed it that is awesome. Shows you how long it has been since I have gone into Diadem >.>

i normally go in with a tank-friend. he pulls all the mobs and runs away with them while i go unlocking flying. takes less than 5 minutes in hard mode. after i have unlocked flying he leave and i go fishing ^^

it's a bit tricky but as a dark knight you can use dark arts + dark passenger (for aoe blind) and dark arts + dark dance (for increased evasion) at the same time to dodge almost all attacks while you unlock it

You need to go in with at least 2 people. As long as one has raise, you can easily unlock them all for both people.

Diadem is still fun AND profitable. My wife and I usually announce when we want to go in our FC and we typically get a few others to go with us. You can make a decent chunk from the diadem only materials and the steel spoils are handy for a number of things.

Great information, thanks everyone. I've never set foot in the Diadem as a DoW/DoM either, but it does sounds like it'll be very worth my while as a BTN. Will ask some FC mates to get me in there when I'm ready.

Also keep in mind that Diadem gathering parties are an option, if you don't have a FC airship, or no one in your FC is interested in helping you out. I see them in party finder regularly, and they seem to fill in 30 min to an hour. They might fill more slowly on smaller servers, I dunno. It may be something to try, though, if FC airship is not an option!
