    Ifrits greatest weapon: Animation Lag

That infamous "animation lag" Yoshi-P likes to reference, here it is working against the player in the most important moments I'm sure everyone that has attempted the fight knows exactly what this feels like.

We'll get you soon enough Ifrit, lawls!

Amen to this. I haven't attempted this fight but this animation lag is apparent in a lot of instances*. I'm glad we have another clear-cut example.
Is this the same lag that affects the amount of time it takes to trade an item to a retainer? Or is this something separate?

    *meaning "examples" not "private zones"

    Needs fixing.

    +1

Our guys get hit even if on their screen they are twice the distance of the plume away.

    Pretty dumb.

Agreed, liked, printed out, framed, and hung on the wall.

SE can make these raid mechanics much more enjoyable by doing a couple key things:

    1. Tune time delays based on international players on loaded servers, not LAN testers on an unloaded test server. Additional/alternate idea (don't know if feasible): when an event like eruption goes off, send a query to the client for its current position at the same time as the animation goes off, and wait for the updated position before inflicting damage based on it.

    2. Remove the positional lock from performing all actions. It might look silly sliding across the floor while doing stuff, but gameplay has to be the #1 priority if they're trying to take endgame/raiding seriously.

We've also had some issues with this. We've gotten ifrit down below 40% but there always seems to be someone getting hit by animation lag.

Above 60% it's not a big deal because the attacks are few and far apart but in the last phases of the fight there are much more precise locations and timings required, and the server doesn't cooperate too often.

As much as It's an enjoyable fight, I find it really annoying that they built an encounter based on dodging in a game that suffer of terrible lag and animation locking.

It's like you're fighting against the game itself instead of Ifrit '>.>

It's not always going to have latency problems, they built it with the future in mind. I also haven't gotten hit with animation lag to the point it would hinder my performance, I only get the typical UI delay, which will be fixed when they optimize the servers.

I'm not saying they should have made the fight any different, in fact I said I enjoy this fight, but it is a fact that once you know the tactic the only thing preventing you from win is server lag and that's annoying.

Glasses jas nothing to do with it. I lag more in uldah than in the ifrit fight. 59 out of 60 fps is soooo annoying
