Hardware Updating

Hello everyone. I am planing on updating my 20th Anniversary Edition PS4 from a 500 GB to a 2 TB. My question is will I have to repurchase the game. Or will it be safe to backup my saved file and transfer it over to the new hardware?

The game will just need to be installed, your license is on the Sony server

Only thing you have to do is redownload the game from your library. Also your saved file is backed up on your PS+ account.

I upgraded my harddrive to 2TB not to long ago and it was as simple as redownloading the game from your game library.

But to answer your question, no you do not have to repurchase the game.

you don't even have to backup your save. you should do it, but it's not necessary. the only stuff wich is saved on your playstation are your hud layout, gearsets and command lists.

your character and all your stuff is saved on the server.

First, I hate you cuz you got the 20th PS4 (Crying a little inside..).. But yes, when you upgrade your HDD, you just need to reinstall the game. It will prompt you like it did the first time you launched the game. Just input your existing SE account and you will be good to go. But the reinstalling of all those patches will take time. So grab some lunch or complete misc things or do w/e needs to get done.
