If there's anything I can say about legacy servers...

...it's that they're awfully kind. I mean, I'm kind of a recent transfer (a few months ago) to Balmung and at first I thought I was missing something with comments like:

"Oh, so you're a crafter now? That's cute."
"You've only been playing since 2.2? You're a newbie!"
"Darling, no one does Gordias any more."

However, I think I've come to terms that people really think I'm something else. If I knew any better, I would have thought these comments were condescending or trying to get me to leave or whatnot, but surely no one is that xenophobic. So thanks for the kind words, folks!

I don't understand what you're trying to do here. Insult the people on the server you just tranferred to? Gain sympathy from other non-legacy "newbies"? Something else entirely?

However, if there is something that -I- am missing here, please let me know. Balmung is a really nice server but does have its shitheads like any other server does. That's nothing new.

Mainly Legacy servers contain people since the 1.0 days, and usually those people are the nicest because they've got a lot of experience on their hands and would like to see players succeed. This is from my experience anyway. As TheCurls said, there are also your fair share of assholes who try to shove an elitist attitude down your throat.

All thoughts aside, I'm glad you found a place to call home that you can like.

I think the EU legacy server is amazing. I'm a newbie and at first I was kind of scared to join the EU legacy server because that's where most of the vets are, but everyone is so nice. I tend to get a little too emotionally involved in the story, and after a certain cutscene after the Vault I was so upset. I told my FC "Oh no, oh dear, I just did Vault for the first time guys, oh no" and I swear everyone was so sweet trying to comfort me haha. Or when I told them how much I loved doing Steps of Faith (apparently everyone hates it?), they cooed me saying how I'm so pure and adorable. And, again getting too emotionally involved, doing Thordan for the first time with a group of FC mates, I told them "My heart is actually pounding guys, oh my god" and again they went all like "awww that's so cute, let's kick his butt yeah?"

Anyways, I'm rambling a bit. Point is, my experience with the EU legacy server has been great so far. Sproutlings apparently awaken some kind of mother instinct in the veterans haha

Every server has rude people. Nothing new.

There's always a few assholes, and since there's a lot of players, there's more visible assholes.

But there's plenty of people who adore new players on Balmung, and want them to be treated right and proper. At the same time though, there are some new players who can be even bigger assholes. Not mutually exclusive behavior.

I don't know who you're spending time with, but when I play on Balmung on my alt everyone is incredibly kind. I think it's also safe to say that of all my years on Gilgamesh I have found a much more friendly community on Balmung overall ( plenty of kind and sweet people on Gilgamesh too, otherwise I wouldn't be there still ).

Either way.. maybe you need a new FC or to find new friends. There will always be bad apples no matter where you go.

Sounds to me like you need to find new friends and get rid of the condescending ones. I've never experienced this kind of treatment on Excalibur. I'm sure that we have our share of players that would talk down to others like this, but I don't hang around them.
