Buying eso using PF is bannable?

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but be gentle if it is wrong

I had a pf up buying eso mats for gil, and someone told me that I could get reported. I was surprised given that I see a lot of pf up buying eso mats and the fact that historically people used to do this for soldiery, myth and philo (cant recall) and I have never heard of anyone being banned for it.

While I understand people getting warned for selling fantasia potions and other mog station gift codes for gil and the recent amazon summer codes, but it is surprising that people using their esos to buy eso mats and selling on the marketboard would be that much different to a buyer requesting to buy eso mats on pf for gil

I saw your party finder last night and I think you were misunderstood. Next time say "Buying 500 Esoterics worth of Eikon Crafting Materials." Otherwise, it sounds as if you're "buying" eso for your relic. People probably assume you're buying runs, which for some reason, also isn't against the norm.

The person who told you that was mistaken (or lying).

I've not heard to seen anything of the sort. I wonder if they were just tired and thought you were trying to sell a housing plot?

I see those posts all the time on both Sarganatas and Jenova. Without the delicacy that Rawrz suggests.

There is no way this would be bannable seeing as you can buy and sell eso mats on the MB.

I do not think it is against the ToS to buy eso bought materials through PF. The materials are marketable and can be placed on the MB so SE is fine with people selling them. Buying them through PF listing is just another way to sell what is already allowed to be sold.

Back before we had full clarification about selling housing plots there was a screenshot somewhere of someone who had posted in PF that they were going to sell their plot. I'm pretty sure the GM action email they received stated that they got a slap on the wrist as it was a "Misuse of Party Finder".

So if anything, I would say it could potentially be an actionable offence under the same "Misuse of Party Finder" reasoning; broadcasting WTB/WTS messages etc. is not exactly what that system was intended for. We have a MB or a /shout system that are better suited for this.

However, that would mean someone would have to report you for it and it would have to be investigated. Not sure how many people would actually do this, seems like a spiteful waste of time. :/
