    Crafting: Practice Mode

My suggestion is to have a practice mode for crafting where the player could set a few parameters like difficulty, amt. needed to HQ, etc. and then try to do it.

I lost 6M in materials last night trying to make the Answers Orchestrion Roll and really wish I could have known going in that I wasn't good enough at crafting to make it. Maybe something good can come out of me losing my fortune.

I feel like something like this could be easily implemented using a system similar to the moogle and ixal quests.

Have an NPC with various difficulty items that you can select from a list and he gives you the materials for the practice item you want. And you just have to provide the crystals shards same as beastman quests.

Basically would be like the stone sky sea for crafting. And every time a new recipe tier is released this npc gets a new item in that tier to practice on. Maybe make it so you have to actually hand in a hq item of each tier to open the next highest tier to practice on. Add in some achievements to make it fun too.

For now, I would suggest using this handy website.

If I may ask, what is your craftsmanship at? Since that can't be made hq it should just be 2 or 3 piece by piece with sh2, then waste not/manipulation with cs2 to finish

I'd settle for just telling us how much progress / quality we will gain for a 100% efficiency action for any given recipe.

This would be great. It would be even better for a visual "shadow" when you mouse over skills to show where you'd land on success.

I'm guessing it was a matter of not being used to attempting anything of that level and maybe not having the cross skills chosen? It's easy to look at a recipe and figure the number isn't that high and then you do that first increase and watch the bar that you'd previously knock a decent chunk out of barely budge.

    I completely disagree
That would make crafting way to easy !

Currently you have to work and know your abilities
You have to be adaptable and improvise if you craft.

    About answer scroll
It's like furniture with the huuuuuuuge progress need
Piece by piece is the go to skill
Alongside with ingeniosity or waste not

Before EVERY craft you need to check which skill you have

Like a crafting simulator? Where you can practice rotations to see if you can make something with the stats you have?

    I'll just leave this here

The difficulty number of the recipe shows up in the crafting log, so it's not exactly a secret on how much progress you need to finish a craft. Double checking things is important if you're doing a craft for the first time, especially if it's a craft with mats that have a significant cost. (OP's Answers Orchestrion Roll, in this case.)

A dedicated training mode isn't really necessary, since there's already a crafting simulator where you can play around with rotations without requiring any use of mats.
It's also good to keep a mental note of checking the difficulty number when crafting something that can't be HQed. If it's way higher than normal, then you know to cross class Muscle Memory/Piece by Piece.

That's exactly what happened. I didn't think I'd have any trouble making the item and then I panicked at the first increase. The game said I met the craftsmanship and control requirements for the item and I didn't need to try to HQ it so I thought it would be straight forward.

At the end of the day, I doubt the developers want their players to run into a soul crushing experience. That's why there are Calamity Salvagers and the like. Losing millions of Gil from your own ignorance really is not fun.
