Of course not, but I am much more happy about the implementation of Cait Sith in FFVII as a creative character than I am of Gobbues, Ahrimans and Drakes for FFXIV as mounts.

On top of that if you want to talk about logic a cat can pretty much jump on everything.

Well, if anything I was showing how Final Fantasy is capable of pulling off sillyness rather than anything to do with logic.

Although, how can you really compare implementation of these examples when we know virtually nothing about how mob mounts will be implemented in XIV?

Of course people like Cait Sith. It's an established, well known, nostalgic character that people have grown attached to over the course of an entire rpg experience. It's easy to side with that and say that Cait Sith is better, compared with a wire mesh test animation.

The point is, that SE has been known to do these things well in the past. How can you be sure that they can't implement special mounts with the same kind of finesse?

Would make more sense than riding a giant monster made of rows of teeth.

More to the point Cait Sith wasn't a mount he was a robot, powered by not magic...but SCIENCE!

Depends on how one actually obtains said giant monster with rows of teeth. Could make a lot of sense depending on how the story goes.

I personally think that a goobbue fits a lot better with FFXIV's landscape than a giant stuffed moogle, but I can see how people would enjoy the latter and find it a lot of fun. Either are technically viable.

Cait Sith isn't the mount, he's the rider. The giant moogle is the mount that he rides. In case you were actually talking about the moogle, here's a tidbit. The giant moogle may be robotic, but according to the instruction manual, magic is behind it:
"Cait Sith rides on the back of a huge stuffed Mog he magically brought to life. Megaphone in hand, he's always shouting orders and creating dopey attacks..."

Rideable mobs are freaking awesome and I can't wait. All you people complaining about "keeping the feel of FF" need to STFU. I'm so friggin tired of it. You guys are ruining the community of this game. Stop being such a square (no pun intended) asshole and just let the team do what they're gonna do. This content is more than a year off, you have no right to judge it right away because you don't like the idea. It could turn out awesome (or horrible, but I'm leaning towards awesome). FF will be FF as long as it has moogles, chocobos, magic, swords, spikey hair, Cid, references to past FF games (Dalamud/Meteor anyone?), and many other things that are in this game which won't go away. Lighten the hell up and stop being such uptight brats and try to have an open mind about things. It's JUST A GAME, after all. Also I can't believe to hear people complain about possibly being able to ride Wyverns. WHAT ABOUT THAT WOULD NOT BE AWESOME?! Let's JUST have Colored Chocobos, because anything else will destroy the FF feel. . . You guys are soooooo stupid. . . massive facepalm. . .

Hmm... the number are relatively more even on this then i thought they would be as I voted no lol..
Id actually expected that to swing massivly towards yes given the oww shiny mentaility people have these days in mmos.

I still think unless SE are very careful, this could end up looking just plain silly for the most part..
An id rather see coloured PonyBirds and lots of armour variations.
(and a couple exclusive coloured Chocobos for people who play though to 2.0)

    Let me just quote this

Cait Sith is an anthropomorphic robotic cat standing just over three feet in height with short black fur and a white stomach and face. He wears a short red cape tied around his neck and white gloves and a small crown. As seen in Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children, Cait Sith does not possess any outward robotic features that would identify him as a robot, although he is still recognized as such.
In Final Fantasy VII, Cait Sith rides a large robotic Moogle that, according to the Final Fantasy VII instruction manual, he brought to life. It is never specified if Cait Sith is indeed controlling the Moogle robot, or if Reeve is controlling both of them himself. However, the Moogle is capable of action just like Cait Sith, and it is in fact, the Moogle, that does the fighting even though Cait Sith is the one equipped for battle. According to the instruction manual, Cait Sith uses his megaphone weapons to shout orders to the Moogle.
To be honest being "Magically" brought to life could also be as "Magical" as the Mako Cannon in FFVII they are pretty much machines powered by "Magic" Both Cait Sith and his Moogles are robots of some sort.

Not really relevant to the topic at hand, to look at your other quote...FFXIV is currently rooted in a rather "Serious/fantasy realism" just mounting the monsters as they are seems rather silly and I feel they would have a hard time explaining it away in lore.
