LMFAO.
GOOBUE IS NOT FINAL FANTASY!

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have no problem with that if i am ignored by someone like you.when i just look at your post.
no i didnt know that gobbue is from FFXIV *sarcasm off*... man your IQ is really high isnt it?
and i mean its not "final fantasy" like to ride on a silly gobbue ... really awkward.
but complaining about dragoon not be "traditional" enough... because the drg never ever had a wyvern to his side except FFXI.What kind of logic is this? Final Fantasy can never ever add anything to the franchise because it won't be Final Fantasy?
Put yourself in a time before FFVI was released. Would you have declared that game to be not Final Fantasy because they made Magitek mounts, something never before seen in Final Fantasy and wasn't even a chocobo? Ridiculous, right? Totally not Final Fantasy. Well, it made its home in Final Fantasy as one of the most popular additions in the franchise, and continues to be something that players fondly look back on.
This can only ever happen if SE pushes the boundaries to create NEW elements. We can't keep dwelling in the old, because Final Fantasy is constantly evolving with new ideas.
and yes i think Final Fantasy are almost classic. typical FF aspects you can find in any game. and i dont think that we need a gobbue to mount on, which is really awkward and cheesy besides that. in every MMorpg we have silly mounts. i dont know what people care all about that.

Right, because Final Fantasy has never had any sort of similar sillyness ever before. Oh wait, what's this?i have no problem with that if i am ignored by someone like you.when i just look at your post.

Pretty much exactly the same situation, if not sillier, as the Goobbue mount that you're denouncing as "not Final Fantasy."
Um, sorry, but I've never said anything like that about Dragoon. Not sure why that's even being brought up.but complaining about dragoon not be "traditional" enough... because the drg never ever had a wyvern to his side except FFXI.

Yes, every FF has similar elements which make the franchise what it is. However, every FF ALSO has NEW elements which make each game different and distict from the last one. If it wasn't for this we'd be playing the same game every generation.
We don't "need" mounts? Of course not. We don't "need" housing or access to Ishgard either but a lot of people want those. The more stuff to do in MMOs, the better.
People like options and fun things to play with. This is one of them. Not everything has to be serious and "realistic" in a game meant to have fun.
That's actually awesome and original, FFXIVs mount ideas are terrible in comparison.
Of course not, but I am much more happy about the implementation of Cait Sith in FFVII as a creative character than I am of Gobbues, Ahrimans and Drakes for FFXIV as mounts.
On top of that if you want to talk about logic a cat can pretty much jump on everything.
Well, if anything I was showing how Final Fantasy is capable of pulling off sillyness rather than anything to do with logic.
Although, how can you really compare implementation of these examples when we know virtually nothing about how mob mounts will be implemented in XIV?
Of course people like Cait Sith. It's an established, well known, nostalgic character that people have grown attached to over the course of an entire rpg experience. It's easy to side with that and say that Cait Sith is better, compared with a wire mesh test animation.
The point is, that SE has been known to do these things well in the past. How can you be sure that they can't implement special mounts with the same kind of finesse?

Would make more sense than riding a giant monster made of rows of teeth.
More to the point Cait Sith wasn't a mount he was a robot, powered by not magic...but SCIENCE!
Depends on how one actually obtains said giant monster with rows of teeth. Could make a lot of sense depending on how the story goes.
I personally think that a goobbue fits a lot better with FFXIV's landscape than a giant stuffed moogle, but I can see how people would enjoy the latter and find it a lot of fun. Either are technically viable.
Cait Sith isn't the mount, he's the rider. The giant moogle is the mount that he rides. In case you were actually talking about the moogle, here's a tidbit. The giant moogle may be robotic, but according to the instruction manual, magic is behind it:
"Cait Sith rides on the back of a huge stuffed Mog he magically brought to life. Megaphone in hand, he's always shouting orders and creating dopey attacks..."
well thats just an artwork? its a comic type of character and not a serious one. or you love to see cloud riding on a huge moogle guy (for example)?
A Machine Mount and a dragon to ride on which we can saw in the pictures from the live letter would have been OK (not more than ok). but a gobbue? seariously that looks awkward to all character types. a gobbue doesnt seem like that you can ride on it just standing there on his head. i think its inappropriate
well then i want to ride on a morbolus, too. XXXD would be also kind of strange. not every monster fits the role of being a silly mount.
and i think a gobbue has always been a "special" monster type. with making a mount out of it.. it loses the impression of being special. really. every dumb will ride on a gobbue.
i imagine how it will look like.. standing a gobbue next to a chocobo, a dragon, a tiger, an evil eye ...it will look like they are riding on freaking Pokemons or like players opening a zoo.. i dont like that kind of idea. chocobos will lose heavily of importance as well.
but if you want kind of zoo/pokemon atmosphere (welcome to kitty online), because you want mounts like gobbue, evil eye and so on.. although it makes no sense at all .then here you go. . i mean there is maybe a "cool" feeling.. but this effect wears of after a couple of weeks. i think it destroys the atmosphere in the end.
but people seem to be happy with this. final fantasy is not a standard MMO in many kinds.. the gameplay, the setting, global mmo... so why you want to make an "every kind" of MMorpg out of it?
i mean housing etc are really different things. and a machine mount for example would be OK.. we have seen in many other FF's before like in FF12 when fran rides an aero bike.
i only got to say: Catch'm all
