I just don't get it.

Anyone saying it's making the game like WoW or LotR or any other MMO is an idiot. The concept of putting a saddle on a creature and using it as transportation isn't exactly new, it's kind of been around for a while. Yes WoW features a lot of ridiculous mounts. Have we been shown anything to make us believe FFXIV is going down this same path? Nope. Just normal monsters without any special effects or anything ridiculous.

We've been shown 3 different mounts and were told he's not even sure if he wants to use those specific monsters so I don't think the issue of having 10938567 different mounts around is valid at this point. Also what is the issue with having more diversity? I thought people wanted to be unique and not look exactly like everyone else. I mean at least a system like that would give people the option to customize how they see fit. Like anything else in the game, diversity isn't a bad thing. More classes, more jobs, more weapons, more armor, more skills are all good. More mounts? Nope awful, you should be ashamed SE. Is this really how the thinking goes?

What I really don't get is why can't we have Chocobos + other things? I mean they're not mutually exclusive. What's so wrong with giving people another option should they want it? I just don't get the mentality that shuns more options. Chocobos are here and they're iconic, they're also a bit rare and only Ishgard can breed them. In this game it makes more sense than it ever has to look to other creatures as means of transportation.

Drakes, Gobbues and Ahriman don't look very submissive to be perfectly honest. If they ever go as far as that, then heck, why not add malboro mounts? Why stop there? Ride a doormouse, not your cup of tea? How about your very own Yoshida mount? He runs you around piggyback style, waving to the FF community as he passes by. There is a fine line between tasteful and distasteful, not everything needs to be a mount.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the subject. I personally don't think FFXIV needs to go down the "Ultra themepark" route that MMO's such as WoW do.
